retired health reasons( lungs)

not sure what strain of birds i obtained , only know they are high flyers

my goal is hopefully to develop a family of fairly deep spinners.

I am basically just a backyard hobbyist, but if with any luck i ever get a lung transplant, i may consider competition flying sometime in the future.

Just got some birds down from families of Niebel, Gibson, and Higgins. Am acquiring some breeders from Tony Chavarria. Got my first rollers when I was 12 years of age. Raised them most of my life for backyard enjoyment. Had to give up birds about 10 years ago and am just getting started back.

To develop, first of all, a family of birds to enjoy in my own back yard. Might compete later on.

Hello:
I`m Stan Arnold I live in Mississauga Ont.CANADA
I`m 70 years old and have had the same Pensom family since 1968.Been retired for 21 years.Have kept Rollers for 55 years Continuously.Have flown in world cup and local competitions. The last trophy was for second place old birds,
in 1996.That was after 18 years out of competition.Stopped competing that year,in local competition.Flew W.C. in 97.

I am the Original breeder of my STARFIRE CRESTED Rollers.
They are a Mutation from my original Pensom stock.
They were not crossed with any other crested breed.I have the original non crested family still. Take a look;

4. I consider them my family now, because I have tightened up the gene pool, they are improving every year, and I will not bring in any other blood to mix in, but they are based on a mixture of Steve Smith(Campbell,NY), Ivan Hanchett, and Ron Kumro birds.

5. To build a strong, inbred family of deep, fast spinners that can hold up over time, and give me many years of enjoyment for the rest of my life.

6. I compete in all roller flying competitions that are available and always will. I strongly believe that flying our birds in competitions, pushes us to raise higher quality rollers, which improves the breed over time, and that is our legacy to future Birmingham Roller flyers.

my family of birds come from an old black country roller
cock from Dick Stephens and one hen who has passed thru
3 lofts in this area, i believe to have come from old
Dick Davis birds. I also have some Jacs. and a few birds from Jim cook. I keep the families separate, and prioritize the stephens based stuff.
My goal is to continue to develope my own line from the
Stephens/Davis stuff and to not lose so many birds next year so as to compete in the W/C.
I compete in state flies and have been in the fall fly 2 years ago. Will be flying in 2006 fall fly. planning on 2007 W/C

you can't pick from the perch but I've been around long enough to know the type. Tony's young birds certainly look and feel right, I'm very hopeful!

Hey Gregg, here is what you can do, copy and paste as was suggested or select FILE>PRINT PREVIEW>SCALE>SHRINK TO FIT>PRINT

You can also go back in your browser settings and be sure to select the option to NOT PRINT background colors. You may have to reboot after you do this for settings to take effect.

That's about as printer friendly you are going to get outta me. lol

Jon Farr

37 yrs

Im a wildlife specialist for USDA. I work to resolve conflicts between wildlife and agriculture.

I am flying birds from Dirk Deboer and Adam Hill crossed with Jay Starley family. This year I am also breeding from 4 pair from Garry Barres.

Got back into pigeons in 2000 as result of telling my kids about some of my boyhood experiences. I was trying to sell them on raising pigeons and I caught the fever again.

My goal ... ultimately to enjoy myself. This is a hobby and form of recreation to me. That said I want to be the best or have the best I can within reason. I would like to qualify in some major flies. When I die or get out of the hobby, to have said of me, "he was a nice man and generally flew a damn nice team of birds."

Yeah I make my donation to world cup and NBRC FF each year. This is one of a few times a year I have opportunity to visit at my house with other roller fanciers. This has been one of the best aspects of competing, getting to meet ppl from around the country and share in the sport of it.

I live in Idaho, for about last 15 yrs.
