Good morning Efren....

None of those rolling pigeons from LaRon or George has been received by me as of yet. Tell you what, when I actually get my hands on those birds I'll be sure to post them on here.

George had said something about my $$$$$$$ situation... so he wants to put the roller deal on hold for now.

Might call Smokey this weekend. Disccuss that high velocity heat situation with him.

Hopefully you still get them so you can fly them and keep us updated on the performance of the Ruiz and the Doucet line.

Spanky is flying some bird off of or from Laron and at least from the kit he flew for me that dun self was the one I personally liked the most from that kit. Spanky told me it was still a very young one so I hope it gets deeper as it was only doing around 5' but with a real nice roll.

I believe he said around 5 months. Most at the fly like the deeper black w/f but his style was in my opinion no match for the shorter dun. I told Spanky that the dun was the best bird in that kit he flew, he then told me that it was a bird that he got from you or out of your line. So in no way was I picking favorites or had higher expectations for the birds he had. Hopefully I'll get to see how he turns out once he gets deeper. As of now he is showing promise.

Sounds like Spanky is flying Professor LaDouce rollers with a respectable amount of success. Duns are a favorite of mines because they have been known to chop it up in the sky.

....well anyway

I can't wait to get my hands on some of those LaDouce birds. From what I hear.... they are great to train and fly.

Let's jump back to the rising gas price situation agan. When I first bought my car in 2003 it cost roughly twenty something dollars for a half a tank of gas. And this was unleaded supreme.

....however

Yesterday I put in straight unleaded gasoline at the pump and it cost me close to fifty dollars for a half a tank of gas.

My GAWD!

Hey Efren...

Those 1220 birds are good spinners but I hear that the 0016 line spins just as good... if not better.

Any thoughts?

Marcus - it is mute points because no one will agree do to the subjectiveness of the sport. Some guys prefer a 20' shrinker that spins every 1-2 minutes; some want birds to perform in unison, depth etc. Some believe in the beliefs of the old timers, some believe in this or that. You will never get anyone to agree and you cannot judge 1220 on some bird today that is 4-10 generations away from 1220. Some people say they have a kit of all champions and that may be true to them but not to someone else. There is no way to compare 1220 to pigeons today. I feel 059 ans 9393 are the best two pigeons that I have seen produce in a lifetime but this is based on my experience. It is like comparing Rickson Gracie to Bruce Lee (We will never know!)

Marcus,

Laron is right you can't compare 1220 5 generations down to 0016 offspring. However, you can ask the man who had both 1220 and 0016 in his loft as to which bird is better in his opinion. From what I was told by Jerry Higgins is that 0016 is a much better bird all around than 1220.

Keith had some 1220 and he did say that they were very good but he also made this statement: "I never received over 1100 point with that line"

Abel also had the 1220 family and again said that they were very good birds but he also made this statement: "0016 produces on every hen he is on"

So in summarizing what I've learned, both families produce very good spinning rollers. Now it's up to the manager/breeder to get them to the next level.

Marcus,

No 1220 in them. Weapon hen is off of 0003 who is full brother to 0016. 1094 is Great grand son to 0016. So far 1094 and the weapon hen have produced on every mate they've been on. Should be some serious fire.

Good morning Efren....

I wanted to ask you something. I noticed there are some threads on Roller Pigeon Dot.com regarding Eddie Verdugo's Blacks and his Yellows.

Just wondering do you know anything about Eddies Yellows and Blacks??

....if so

Are they related to #1220 or the weapon hen which is off of #0003 (the full brother to #0016)???

...also

Is it possible that Eddie's yellows and blacks are related to #1094 which is the great grand son to #0016???

NOTE: This query is all part of my biogenetic research on different Birmingham Roller Pigeon families.

Thanx in advance!

Warspeed - Many individuals come up with conclusions with no data. How can one come up with that conclusion and what data does one have to come up with that conclusion? 1220 does not and has never produced a yellow. There is a lot of hearsay but 99 percent is just that (Hearsay). Where are the yellows in Bob Scotts records of the birds off of 1220, Bill'S records etc. No offense but Bill Pensom had many breeds of pigeons. If one has homers and rollers does that suggest that their birds are crossed? Of course not! I had birds off of 1220 from Bob Scott, Willie Wright, John Isabel, Charles Robinson, Saldana had 1220 himself, Higgins used 1220 and John McDougal had the parents and there are no yellows in that family.

Bob never had a yellow that a know of,and if he ever did i dont think it came out of 1220.

QUESTION: Are the Jerry Higgins, 514 line and Norm Reed family of birds similar in performance style, body-type, character and expression?

The reason why I ask is because I'm logging all of this stuff into my data banks for future reference.

Good morning Gary.... it's great to hear from you.

The birds are doing just fine. My brother drove up yesterday from San Leandro and I flew a kit for him. He was so impressed, that he took pictures on his cell phone of my birds, their lofts and kit boxes then texted them to his brother in law that also flys rollers in Richmond, California.

....well anyway

I still have a long way to go before I can seriously get the job done like Don Oullette, Keith London, Jerry Higgins and Heine Bjiker of the Netherlands.

Hey Gary... let's jump back to the rising gas price situation in our nation. I bought my vehicle back in 2003 and it cost me a little over twenty U.$. dollars for unleaded supreme to fill it up.

....however

Last week I put in straight unleaded gasoline at the pump and it cost me close to fifty five dollars for a shade above a half a tank of gas. Geeeezuz....

QUESTION: What are you paying for a gallon of gasoline where you live?

hey marcus, oh it hurts to even think about. Right now im paying $4.23 a gallon for 89 regular grade, and it keeps on rising every couple of days. Im lucky thats all my vehicle requires because of its retard timing. I drive a 08 toyota tacoma crew cab btw. Last I paid was 4.19 over the weekend and paid right around 74.50 for a tank. Will it ever end??!

Hi Gary if you're out there lurking.

Good news! Price of gas at the pump has dropped over a nickel a gallon for me.

Filled up the tank yesterday. I feel that gas prices are still rather high though if you were to ask me.

Hey Marcus! thanks for the update, ive noticed a slight..yes slight, very slight decline in the prices as well. I paid 4.39 a gallon for 87 over the weekend. Ive got to fuel up tomorrow as it was a busy weekend. I hate all the driving but its something I cant do without.

Its funny how exited we get when the price drops but the big picture is, its still super expensive from what it was just last year or a couple of years ago...its very sad.

How are the birds doing?

Good morning Gary...

Birds doing okay and it's good to hear that you are saving a few pennies at the pump too.

I'm going to read up on some Monty Neible writings just as soon as I can figure out where I hid the file to his article in my documents. It might take me a little while to locate the Neible writings after I fiddle around with my mouse and click on a few things. Then it should pop up.

The truth of the matter is that I need an educational refresher so I don't lose my focus here @ "Deep Spin Lofts".

LaRon you have named in the past some great roller men's names that I am familiar with.

McCully started getting birds from Smith in 1940's and owned many when he died in 1975 besides the last of Pensom breeders that he owned. He did not have any Plona pigeons.
