I noticed that some rollerguys use kit boxes to fly from and others use an open loft systemm like the Homerguys fly from. Both systems work very well. Does it depend on what part of the country you live in? Or is it .....whatever You like and whatever works for YOU ?? I want to get started off on the right foot with my birds Paul

Paul, personally I would never fly out of anything but a kitbox. My kitboxes are accessed from inside the loft, I have a visual of every bird in every kitbox at all time's within the loft.

Paul.I have flew both ways.I never knew what a kit box was untill around 5 years ago.Now that I have flown from a kit box I would never go back to open door loft flying. They fly better, kit better and just plain handle better. Scott.I think I would like your way of using kit boxes.I may have to try that for my A team kit. David

Scott - if I change my loft it will incorporate the same; having access to the kit boxes from inside the loft. Bob Hord in Illinois has a good set up. Have you seen his? How does your design compare?

Nick, Bobs setup was very very nice , actually I was impressed with most everyones lofts in that area. My loft is the same principle but different, kitboxes accessed from inside of the lofts is one of those things that once you've had it, it would be hard to go back. Feed, sink, showcage ect are a few steps away from the inside doors of my kit boxes, if a bird falls out at 10 pm no big deal. Rain, shine or in the dead of night you can be in the loft playing with pigeons LOL Scott

I couldn't agree more. I was at Scott's a year or two ago and fell in love with his set up. It was a very nice, enjoyable, controlable environment. I liked it so much I decided to build one similar to it. Having a full walk in room with kit boxes fully accessible from the inside is awesome. The birds get to know you better and become really calm. You can see each and every bird better, like looking into a display case. Feed, sink, lights, stereo, armory, show cages, everything is right there, day or night. You can move birds around without having to worry about one getting out. Heck I can leave the door open and they just sit there...lol. Brian.

Dave it is nothing that I started , I picked up the concept at Carl Hardesty's. Many guys back East use this concept due to Winter weather, it is pretty rare out here in Calif. though due to much more mild Winters. What is nice about it out here is in the Summer there is sold air flow due to the front and back being wire, I have panels that go on the outside doors in Winter, I have threaded studs on the frame of the outide doors so the panels are attached by wingnuts, they can come off in seconds on sunny Winter days.
