I have a roller who likes to roll upwards into the sky instead of fall down while rolling. What he does is he gains speed before he's ready to roll flying upwards and then lets loose with extreme velocity. His upward flight before rolling actually pushes him upwards during the first part of his roll.

Is this some kind of normal roll pattern? Or is he just weird?

He's early in release (2 weeks) but an older bird never flown before.
