The NBRC auction has started. It's at: NBRC AUCTION
Are these always top birds that are offered?
How much will these birds be going for at the end of the auction?

I think it would be best to try to contact the donors to find out just what they are offering. Most bidders probably bid on birds from people they know. Or maybe they view it as a way of supporting the club and hope to get some good birds out of the deal. Kind of like auctions in my area to support private education....you sometimes pay way more than an item is worth just to support the cause. Dan

Alan, there are a variety of birds being offered. Squeakers, proven kitbirds, and stock birds. Are all top notch? Well...You are going to get a few different opinions on that question. I can tell you that a couple years ago I wanted to try a pair of different birds for the heck of it. I got a real nice pair from this auction for a couple hundred bucks. They were both proven kitbirds that were pulled specifically for this auction. In my case, I believe that I did get some top notch birds. In fact, I mated the hen from this auction to a cock that I acquired from the same family a couple months later. This mating produced one of the best spinning cocks that I have bred in the past few years and was the only bird that I stocked last year. He is 30' on the money, good frequency, ball bearing smooth, and very high velocity! If he clicks with a mate this year he could be a foundation bird. Also, A good percentage of his siblings and half siblings were above average kitbirds and some might have been as good with maturity but the hawks killed alot the past couple years. Good Luck, Russ

Hey Guys, I've been doing the auction for the past 3 or 4 years. And I have been getting feed back after the auction. And all the feed back that I have received has been very good. Now with an auction this size I can't say that everything will be world beaters. But I know that the donors are doing their best to make sure that it is a success. All you have to do is be your own judge and let your wallet tell you what they are worth. There is fly reports that will help make your decisions a little easier. I have purchased a few items off the auction and they have been worth every penny I spent. So all I can say is do a little research and ask around. Call or email the donors and talk to them and see if they are what your looking for. I hope this helps and I wish you all the best of luck with the birds this season. I want to thank everyone that has made the auction what it is. Again best of luck!!!! Brian Middaugh

I donated eight squeekers to the auction. Just wanted to let everyone know. If you win you can pick any family that I have. I have some RUBY Rollers, Scott Campbell stock, Chuck Roe/Mort Emami and Mcguan stock. I breed from 10pairs all are proven....except 3 pairs. On pair I am crossing a Turner Adalusian with a 98 Campbell hen....to see if it works out. Anyway just wanted to let everyone know.

I bid on a few items but if I am high bidder I don't know how to get the birds. I have checked into having birds shipped to me but so far I have not been able to get shipping to my zip code. Anyone else having this problem? Maybe I'll have to take a mini vacation and drive to KY or PA.

Highroller, is it possible to have them shipped to a friend in an approved zip code zone near you? I am able to ship to rural areas so far I have not had any problems. It may take an extra day so be sure they seller has fed and watered them real good before shipping. FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

I had a problem one time...But I ended up sending the birds to a friend of the person who bought them. Then he picked them up from him. It takes a little more coordination...but it works that way. The auction lasts until August..so I would have the breeder ship in October or November so it is not so hot. Just a thought.

Hi.I have been able to ship where I had to so far.Like someone else said it may take an extra day but they have been able to get the birds delivered. They have went out of their way in helping me. The east has got US Airlines back now so that will loosen things up a lot more soon.I think by Fall they will be back in full swing. As soon as they hit us with a higher shipping cost.LOL. Highroller. What is your zip? David

Hey Tony, Never left just been bummed out after I lost all my breeders and fosters. Lost 112 birds and only have 7 of my birds left. So it's back to the basic's. But with help from a few people like Scott Campbell and Paul Fullerton I believe I'll be back in the saddle in a couple of years. Also Tony thanks for the direct link to the auction. I believe it will be a success like it has been in the years past. But everyone please use your own judgement and let your wallet tell you what to bid. Again glad to have the bug again with the birds. Thanks Brian Middaugh http://rollerpigeon1963.tripod.com/

David, I'm in Zeeland, MI 49464. I was told that they could not get birds to me or even to Gerald Ford Int'l. Airport in Grand Rapids, MI where they have a postal facility. That's only about a 30 minute drive for me. Dan

Alan, Last Thanksgiving weekend I had my nephews over for a visit. Well I took them out to the farm and shown them the horses. Then they came back here and I shown them the chickens and pigeons. Well that night I had a chicken show to attend and I said goodbye and left. Well the next morning I went out to feed and water and I noticed my loft doors open. I took off to the loft and looked inside and all I seen was 7 birds. Man I was crushed and didn't know what to do. So I stood outside shaking a can of feed. While a thunderstom was approaching. We got 60 mph winds, hail, and a flash flood warning. Winds were so bad it broke limbs out of the tree beside the house and came through the roof and into our living room. For two days we suffered with this storm and I never got another bird back. Reason why they took off is we had just moved here in our new house. And I didn't want to resettle my birds from Kenny and Scott. So I used all my older birds as fosters. So the one loft was my main breeders and the rest were my fosters. So none of them had ever been released here at the new place. It was a total of 112 birds of Billings, Campbell and my Joe Roe birds. Just a few weeks ago Eldon Cheney had received a phone call from some one that lived about 45 minutes away from me that found a dead bird with my leg band on it. So now its back to the basic for me and the rollers. Thank goodness I still have my chickens to calm my nerves. Well that was how my luck has been in November of last year. Brian Middaugh

Hey Paul, Thanks for posting about your birds in the NBRC auction. I was going to ask, but I remembered that you posted on Tony's site so thought I'd try to catch you here. I liked your idea of putting an Andalusian on one of Scott's birds!!!!LOL LOL I might just have to bid on your birds just so I can try the same thing! By the way, I am unclear about one thing. Does the winner have to pick from three families, or can he pick from one? Thanks, Cliff

Brian, I've heard your story before, but it always chills me when I hear it. A couple weeks ago I went away for a weekend and came back to find the feed and water troughs in my breeder loft all tipped over. (A neighbor said he saw some kids messing around.) I remembered your story and the locks went on immediately. One more key on the keychain won't hurt! No losses, though...I guess I was lucky! Cliff

Cliff...what ever you want...I will deliver. I only have one pair of Campbell birds and one Campbell hen on the Andalusian. I have one pair of Ruby Rollers. The rest are Pure Chuck Roe or Chuck Roe/ Mort Emami mix..those are all Jaconette line ..they mix well. I have one pair that is a Lavin Cock on a Mcguan hen...very good producers...but longer cast birds. I do have 2 Pair of Mason birds two 98 birds and two 03 birds that are very good producers but they take about 8 months to come into the roll...but it is well worth the wait. I am actually wanting to sell the two Mason proven breeders to make room for 2 more trial pairs. That is one thing that sucks about this hobby...you have to get rid of some good pairs....to have the room to pull from your kit and breed. I live in the city limits so I am limited on space. Anyway...anyone interested...give me an e-mail..I will send a photo and give a very good price!
Basically...if you want one family....It will just take a little longer to deliver....I will foster to get the birds you want.

I have birds from my Campbell pair and they are really good...I have a recessive red out of this pair that is a barn burner. Anyway, the hen was pulled from the stock loft on one of my visits to his place..she is a 98 hen. The cock was pulled from the air doing 25' rolls. When I said I liked him...he said "You would have to like that one"LOL!!. I got some nice birds from that pair last year...until I lost my whole team. Rotti from this site has a few squeekers that he just put up out of this pair. The other hen mated to the andy is a 98 hen..I never saw her fly...she is droopy winged. There are photos of both pairs on roller digest under the fanciers section. The cock is a very nice bird...goofy has hell...LOL! Inbred Jed >.>LOL!! All the pairs posted on Roller digest are my favorites..I have two other pairs I will post photos of later. I could not take a photo..they were feeding young and looked like shit! Anyway...They are good producers...I sent a photo of the little recessive red that is tearing it up to Scott and he liked the look. One thing I can tell you about Scotts birds is that they have heart.....they will kit like super glue and when they pop out of the roll....they are going one way...and that is full throttle back to the kit!

Paul that droopy wing hen is out of Nick Bircher stuff bred by Tommy Brower,it is considered old Pensom line, just a different branch off of the tree. I bred that hen around 99 and got some good one's although she's not much to look at , She breeds on the warm side.

Heys Guys, I want to thank all of you who emailed me and offered there help. And I want to thank all of you who posted there help here on this site. But I plan on sticking with one family for now, not saying they any better than what was offered to me. But I just want to work and succeed with one family. David {Bluesman} & Alan Bliven again thanks for the offer, and Paul thanks for lending me a hand. It will help me out a great deal. Cliff with what happened to you was a wake up call!!! like you said one little key can save you many years of headaches. Cliff about your question about the birds on the auction. I myself judged a few of those guys for the W/C prelims {John Lawrence}. and I know Jim Feasel very well a great man. been to his house a few times to watch his birds. The only problem is he is 5 hours away from Me LOL LOL. Usually when I go up I visit with Richard Miller, Jimmy Sherwood and a few of the guys in tha CARC. And Jim Spring well you cant be told how I feel about Jim. He is as honest as they come. The man is a great pigeon man and will do what ever he could to help anyone out. These are just my opinions but believe me a few of these guys would go the extra mile. I hope this helps just let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Again thank you all Brian Middaugh

That would be Tony Roberts' birds, primarily, the Shooting Star hen out of the Old Almond Cock (actually a dark tortoise shell, not an Almond). They are out of the same Pensoms as Turner's foundation. That's the only connection to Turner. Thanks for the line of the Feasel family, Alan. Cliff
