Hi Rauf, Use mothballs wrapped in wire and hang in loft, for skeeters. LEO

Sid, I was in a hardware store today and saw the mosquito traps for $299 and $499. They run on butane. I am going to get one soon. I have to wait for some extra money, but I want to rid the mosquitoes because of my two small boys 7 and 3 yrs. It will just be a bonus that it will help the rollers too. I'll let you know how they work when I get one. I saw a video where they took it to a lake in the woods and it had thousands and thousands of mosquitoes in them. Even in just two hours they show what it cought and I was very impressed. This year is a rainy year in Calif and the insects are worse than any year I know of. The gound is so wet there is puddles all over. The $299 one is for a half and acre and the $499 is for a full acre area. But they told me you need to keep it going as more insects will come in with wind or just wondering around. It uses about a full butane tank of gas like you use on a outdoor grill. But if it gets rid of them it will be worth it to me not to have to use so much pestiside that kills the benefical insects too. Bill

Hey Rauf,, I have another way to keep skeeters at bay ,the late OTTO MEYER OF TRENTON RACING PIGEONS always used ,,FLOWER of SULPHER from drug store,2 pinches in grit, he swore by it, HE was a pro at what he did and really knew his stuff. just another thought you might use,,,, leo

Thanks Leo for additional tip. I am sure I will have mosquitos free loft by following one of the method
Bill, I read dozen of reviews on Mosquito Magnet and it is kind of 50/50. It works for some and not for others. Most of them complained the machine is not reliable and worked for a season only however it did do what it suppose to do.
The machine comes with 1 year limited warranty only. Some failed to make it work out of box, like not starting up, did not pass initial test, etc...Well no big deals just replace it with new one.
Very few as far what I read complain that it did not catch mosquitoes it could be just the machine is not placed properly.
My main concern now is reliability, I have strong feeling that if machine put properly it will catch mosquitoes but what if it stop working next season, 300$ for couple of months without mosquitoes??? Thanks, -Rauf

Hey Rauf, The sulfur thing works when its consumed, the skeets will not touch the birds,,As far as the moth balls u can hang 3 or more containers high n low in your loft....Heres a good one..by accident, i raise show horses, last yr i noticed in a stallions water barrel'55' gal drum, there were thousands of skeeter larva swimming in his water, so I had some wheatgerm oil on my truck so i put only a few drops on the water, then took a stick an stirred the sun showed a slight oil slick over the top of the water the next day ,I looked in the barrel and to my suprise ALL the larva was dead the fine oil slick had kept them from air and nothing would land on it either, Why I did it ILL never know, one thing for sure ,,a drop of oil in standing water eleminates THE SKEETER.....LEO
