I read a lot of different opinions about color now standards and about what the N.B.R.C. views as Birmingham rollers .
Why dont we just all agree on one thing and lets all attempt to fly in the WORLD CUP or FALL FLY and let the birds settle this for us .
This would allow for everyone to show what there birds and training technics are all about .
Sometimes I think we spend to much time on the computer and not enough time flying our birds if this trend continues we replace our HOBBY of flying pigeons with JOURNALISM.
If you look at recent N.B.R.C. bulletins you will see that I haven't scored any points in the last two fall flys (falcon attacks).
I live in a area where the falcons return from there migration in september.Last year a week before the WORLD CUP in May I suffered a overfly cuased by a falcon and lost my whole team .
will this stop or deter me Hell No! I will keep on trying to Compete regardless
I dont claim to have the best birds but come fly time I will open the door to the kit box!!

Whats funny geoge is you don't get this from guys that compete on either side of the issue. Why ? because there the birds do the talking and talk is nothing but that, talk. Competition will humble you quick !!!!! it's all put out there on the table for all to see. Some just don't want that.

It is because of the wintertime. Otherwise, we would be flying rather than chatting. This is the time of year where we make new friends and discuss pigeons, don't you think?
My take on the color issue is really those fanciers who chose the fancy color need and I stress that they need to start competing at the national level. Those birds need to be heard of what they are capable of as they claim. Forget the politics of completions. The only way for those birds to gain respect is they have to earn it. Completions amongst the blue bar/blk ck and gaining good scores would do it. They don't have to win, just be as close to the winners as possible and in time that respect will prosper. That is the only way, I think, respect will be gained in America toward this strain of Birmingham Rollers. I consider those fancy color breed a strain, just like the Pensom strain and the Fireball strain. So what, a third strain would not be so bad. Would it? Just my opinion....

George, They have already been flying and winning for years, and they will continue to win and place last year, this year, next year and so forth, and the guys that fly and win and continue to contribute to the breed and to the hobby will continue to be inducted as Master Flyers. But that will not be good enough, EVER, for this minority of close-minded individuals who are interested only in furthering their own agenda, and do not care who they hurt or run out of the NBRC and organized competition with their harsh words, bigotry and criticism. Fortunately, those guys are in the minority. The majority of the sport and NBRC members are gentlemen, are opened minded, recognize performance irregardless of color, pedigree or anything else, and above all treat others and their birds with respect. They set a good example and perhaps these caustic purists will one day come to respect that example and their fellow man, but I doubt it. Cliff

Hi Jay, To be honest, amongest the Birmingham roller breeders,, the Cross breeds are a different breed, and like you say, thats not a bad thing.. The guys I know, when they see the rare colored birds in a guys loft,, its the same thing, this guy is rare colored roller breeder.. I tink the rare colors and factors that roll, already have been named as a breed,, Rare colored rollers... I don't know how many flys you have been on, but in the world of the Birmingham roller flyers, I truly think this is the name of the new cross bred roller.. Many just won't say it out loud, cause they don't want the flack.. What do you guys think? Could the new crosses of rare colors, factors, and modifiers be a new roller breed, all their own? RARE COLORED ROLLERS,,,,Something to consider,, Mongrel Lofts

I have alway believed that issues based on a performace animal should always be decided by competition , there is nothing wrong with losing if you give it your best shot , the idea is to see what have and to improve it , if your goal is to be the best you can be , competition is the greatest teacher , I have never known a guy to be right at the top in open competition and be a blowhard , the two just dont mix . When ever I was training a dog for a comp I was alive like never before , competition is where you will find adrenalin ,anxiety , excitment , satisfaction and disappointment its where some men really live , I could not raise a thoroughbred of any breed and not compete its just not in me .
My biggest problem is I have nobody inside a 1000 miles that I can compete with , I have the job ahead as not only do I have get my own birds together but get a region started in this area at the same time .

Ken, I don't know if rare color is the proper word. The reason rare means that the color is there and pops up now and then. You know those colors were crossed in therefore, the best term maybe Fancy Color B. Roller strain. Or we call them the Bling-Bling Rollers. What do you think?

George.Did competing and flying your birds the past 2 years prove your birds were any good? Did it prove they were bad? There is to many things that can go wrong in flying rollers to prove which rollers are better. Scott said it well.It proves your birds were better on that day(or something like that). Again I will ask why nothing is listed for Eric Fischer's region for the fall fly? I have several breeders in my loft(Bling Bling B-Rollers) that won this region before. Jay.That is exactly why I am on the computer.-2 degrees here this morning.David

Bluesman, I am in the ohio area and it has been very cold for that whole week just like in PA. You can't step outside with this wheather. The Robins start to migrate back, that is a good sign the spring is near.

Bluesman, in regard to your Fireball, I posted an ad I ran across in NC. Check out the Fireball roller post. It could be of help. I can't wait for this freez to go away. If it continues then we might have Rollercicles in the loft (LOL).
