Hey lists, I'm using fosters in my breeding program this year and I
wanted to ask a question about when an egg starts to incubate? The
reason why I ask this is because I want to remove the first eggs
layed and put them back when the second egg is laid so that they
mature at the same rate. Well because I work second shift (2pm-10pm)
the first egg is already laid and the birds are laying on the eggs
by the time I get home. Can I still remove the eggs or has
incubation already started?

Thanks

Mr DeLeon.I foster a lot of eggs.Seldom do I remove the first egg.The only reason I would if I thought it may have a chance of getting broke.I would wait untill the second egg was laid and then foster them out. Most of the birds look like they are sitting on them but are actually just hovering over them. They don,t go down on them seriously untill they lay the second egg. They should both hatch close enough that you won,t have to worry.David
