Now the birds have been in their nest boxes for a couple of weeks there is quite a strong smell from their dirt. I have cleaned them out which I can do easily with news paper below the mesh in their boxes. Would apple cider vinegar help keep the bugs down? If so how much and how often in the water? Is it ok when they are breeding? Should they get it all year long?
Cheers.
Al.

Al - I've heard of the ACV used for the overall health of the birds, but nothing about it keeping bugs away. What kind of bugs are you referring to?

Al.I use ACV all the time.Everyday.I use the regular houdehold ACV.The pure ACV I have to get it shipped in and the cost is to great.I use it for one purpose and that is to create an acidic enviorment. It helps to keep Ecoli in check.Everything here that drinks water gets it.Pigeons, dogs, chickens etc. I use Seven Dust for lice & mites.I use the same method that Eric does.David

Hey...
You do not have to get it shipped...I went to my local Raleys super market and talked to the lady in charge of the Organic health food dept...and she had a gallon of Braggs apple cider viniger to me in three days...cheaper...then foy's without shipping...Big grocery store chains can get it for you...or health food stores..

Paul.We don,t even have an Organic Health food dept around these mountains.LOL.Most everyone here grows their own.My wife checked at the biggest grocery store in town and they won,t order it in.I had some picked up several times from friends that traveled to Md but after finding out the reg.ACV did the same thing I wanted it to I quit bothering them to do that.David

You should be drinking it too! It's a great health drink for humans as well. A couple of teaspoons with a glass if water will do good things for you.

How much ACV per gallon do you all use for regular maintenance. Do you increase it during certain times such as stressful times or during sickness? ---------- Alan

Organic ACV has some property which helps eliminate fat cells from the human body. Take a couple of teaspoons before each meal and you'll be amazed at how your clothes will become bigger in no time. ---------- Alan

I usually add two tablespoons per one gallon of water. I might give it a try for myself.
