ok my young birds have been out!! this morning prior to feeding i opened the trap and let them come out. they all came out and sat on the roof except one and he flew for a while then landed on the kit box with the rest. mt wife enjoyed seeing them out(she thinks the dark box and short feed is cruel) i feed half rations and all but three traped in(with the trap closed) i netted two of the stragler being nervous after my loss on the old birds but couldnt get the net on the third he traped in around 4 pm. at five pm i opened the trap and let them out agian this time they flew up a bit and all but one rolled hard for the ground!!!! non hit but they were low and it spooked me. they all traped right in when i beat the feed can. is it a good idea to put them out twice in one day? is this early rolling a good sign or is it a forwarner of rolldowns? at what point should i make them stay up? they just made afew rounds today and then lit on the kit box and i know that is ok but i also know they need to be pushed at some point!! thanks chris

Hi Chris,
I think just keep them hungry. If you can keep them around your house I think that is a good sign. If it was me I wouldnt push them , just keep them hungrey and let them hang around your house till they are sure of their surroundings. How long do the birds fly for? Do they land on roofs , power poles ect.? If they are just staying on the kit box or only landing on the kit box then I think I would just be patient. Give them a week or so of just sitting around or flying in short flights. After a week or so I would try and flag them up and see if they stay up longer. Again this is just my opinon I am sure others will add to it or correct it!
Thanks, Caleb
