If re-pairing during breeding season I have usually had to keep them away from old mates until they are well into raising a clutch with the new mate. If re-pairing at the beginning of a new season I put new pairs together for a week or so at a time several times throughout the winter and they are ready in the spring. Dan
It only takes me one or two days before my birds would be paired. Altho I use individual breeding pens and this might aid in the process. Last breeding season, my foundation cock went thru 5 hens (with the help of fosters) w/2 clutches each hen. When you find that pair that simply clicks, keep them together and they will out produce any other pair in your loft (in spinners and youngs produced). Just my experience, Thor
