Paul- Interesting post. In 2003 here in West-Central New Jersey West Nile Virus was epidemic. Song bird, crow, hawk and owl populations were wiped out. I raised about sixty young birds that year-three of which developed neurological symptoms. A friend who flies racing homers diagnosed them with PMV and told me to prepare for the worst. One bird got progressively worse and died; one recovered but was weak and "wobbly" and was eventually hawk killed; the third recovered rolls like a wild thing and raised six rounds of young this year. No other birds-breeders or young birds showed any symptoms. Wonder if indeed this was PMV expressing itself in birds weakened by West Nile?
