I have 20 + old birds(2 to 4 years)that I have been using for foster parents.I am cutting back and no longer need these birds. They are all from good bloodlines but I have never seen them fly.I got them for the purpose of fosters. My question. Is there a way I can get these birds to where I can fly them as a kit to see if there is a Champion(LOL)lurking in them before parting with them?I can fly them from a 4'x4' holding pen that is on the same loft that they have been raising young from.Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,David

Oh man...birds that have not flown for that long...you will let them out and have a bunch of fence ornaments. LOL! You could breed a round out of all of them and see what you get. You may have a good pair in there if they come from good blood lines. Or hell, give them to that 19 year old kid that wants some rollers on this chat site..If they are free...he can find out if they are good or not..just a thought. Or you could find out how they roll on a routiserrie.
rock and Roll!

let me add, or possible hawk treat(lol). When birds are held for long time, can't they become flyers if they were to fly hard and lose some weight? Just wondering. Thanks Jay

I had some old flyers that were given to me and they had not been flown for quite some time. I flew them but the frequency wasn't there. There was a couple that was fast and deep but not frequent. I pulled the ones that looked good from what I saw and bred from them to see what I will get next year.
