Might take the fun out but it would allow some serious breeding , if you can get the sperm from the bird ? you can freeze it and bring back the genes of an outstanding bird into you family many years later later , bringing the back of pedigree to the front ,its a kick arse breeding method in dogs , I have an old stud dog on ice from 14 yrs ago and have great grand daughters line bred down from him , in one or two more generations he will be used , when I have done this before it produced some great performance animals .
Would be interesting if something like this can be done with birds .
