Why is it 20 young birds in a kit or 25 older birds in a kit. Why the difference? Thanks

I am not sure what kit you are talking about but for 20 years I have been flying a 20 bird old bird kit. I know that some guys train with 20-25 birds in a kit and then weed them down as a comp come up but as for competing with 25 it would be awful tough to get a 5 bird break when 10 of them would have to go to get 5 scored.LOL. Joe,
Would you elaborate further on "with 25 it would be awful tough to get a 5 bird break when 10 of them would have to go to get 5 scored."
I read it somewhere about the 25 older bird kit. I don't have the article with me to qoute from it. By the way, where can I get competion rules? I visited the NBRC but couldn't find the rules. Thanks

Jay, got to the NBRC site, then click on the link that says Fall Fly. There you will find a link to the page with the fly rules. A competition kit consists of 15-20 birds, regardless of age. Brian.

What I meant buy that Jay was that a competition kit consists of a maximum of 20 birds and if you have any number of birds over 20 than you have to deduct from each break the amount of birds that are extra. 25 birds would make it awful hard to score under those circumstances. Joe Urbon

What you guys may be thinking of is the competitions that the English used to hold, way back when. Young bird kits consisted of 25 birds, old bird kits consisted of 20.

I was looking at some scores in the WC and noticed that there are some scores like this: 7,9,12,7//2,0//7 and so on. What does the 7//2, 0//7, 8/0, 7/2 or 7//0 mean in scoring.
Rick Mee, I also noticed that in your region fly you had 1.8s and 1.8d. That is excellent. But to get the 1.8d, how deep the birds would be? I think maybe 45+ feet. Thanks.
