Hi, we're a newbie couple with a small loft in the backyard. We bought three rollers over the Internet which the seller said were from the Jaconette line last January. Then we also were given a roller hen locally who was in the guy's kit. These four had some babies and now we have eight pigeons. We are very amatuerish, just enjoy the pigeons lives and personalities and haven't trained them to fly yet (we don't know how). The pigeons did get out of the coop one day and we saw two of them roll. We're just curious about what being a Jaconette means?

Richard Jaconette is a fancier who used a variety of birds to create a family gene pool who characteristics were that of being very "hot" and "frequent". In other words they rolled a lot. There a many, many different families out there now that stem from his family and though technically most aren't true Jacs anymore, they still refer to them as Jaconettes as it can be descriptive of their performance attitude as well as being a profitable marketing tool. Good luck with your new birds. Brian.
