I started having hawk trouble in my area a couple weeks ago. Lost a couple birds and had a hawk induced overfly of some late hatches. Has anybody else in CA noticed the hawks moving back in for the end of the season? Time for lockdown!
Last Saterday Evening I had my frist loss do to a falcon It took a young hen at about 300 feet could not tell then what it was do to the hight but on Sunday evening we had a light breeze so the birds were flying real low and out of nowhere there he was and he took a young blue bar cock, on his frist cupple passes he mist but on about the fifth he made contact and of he went with the youngster in his tallons.
When I was a kid, I had some bad luck hunters stop in front of the house and shoot all my birds out of the air. They were laughing and having a good ole time. If I had a shot gun I would have relocated them too. (This Portion Edited: Violates Posting Policy)
