I cracked 4 chicken eggs this morning and got 5 yokes, probably not that rare, but this leads me to a question; has anyone ever had two squabs from one egg?

Yes, we had a little blue bar hen that laid only 1, kind of large egg last year. We made jokes about what if it's a double yolk - 1 roller with 2 heads, 4 legs, 3 wings, etc. The egg hatched and inside were 2 of the fuzziest, smallest roller babies I have ever seen. Together they were the size of 1 regular roller baby. Both lived and grew just fine but it took a little longer. 1 was black white flight and the other 1 a red/almond.

That is called a double-yoker most chickens lay one or two when they are young (5-6)mo. old and just start laying then they get it together an place one yoke per shell sometimes they will lay a no yoker no joke (lol)but this is the first time ever hearing(reading)that 2 birds came out of one egg very hard to believe.I will research this further. Years ago I had a black cochin hen that always laid a double yolk egg but she didn't lay an egg everyday - only 3 times a week.
On the double yolk Rollers - I have photos and witnesses: other Roller friends and members of the AZ Pigeon Club
I understand that it doesn't happen very often, but it does happen.

Had a neighbor once when I went on vacation though it would be alright to gather eggs from under a hen for there breakfast. On breaking one in the fry pan she almost upchucked in the pan when she saw the half developed chick.JDA

My mistake on the dates and how quickly the time goes by....the double yolk rollers were actually hatched in 2008. No photobucket account. I'll bring some of those photos to the NBRC Convention. Looking forward to meeting some more Roller people there.
