I have a nice little baldy that is about 5 months old. At about 4 months it was hitting some nice 15'rolls. It is now done with the molt. For the last 2 weeks the bird has shut down. Not a flip, roll...nothing. I have not changed feed or anything. Any ideas on what happened.. its full sibling did the same thing. Is this just a phase that a young bird goes through. Will the roll come back. Should I play with the feed...or is this normal for a young bird. Little help!

I have had a few do that but it's not the norm. I have had them not roll again until the next spring and then turn out very good. I can't offer any advice on playing with the feed...I have always fed them the same year round. I'm just starting to experiment with different feed techniques now after gleaning so much info from this site.

Hey Chuck I wouldn't worry about this bird to much. I have seen this quite a few times over the years and 90% of the time the birds come out if this and end up as good or better then they were before the moult. At 5 monthes old you really dont need this young bird progressing any further yet so just be patient and I think you will be more than happy with the results. Joe Urbon

Paul it's easy to get discouraged this time of year with the moult and all, some birds that were rolling stiffen up. Others start looking like dog crap. Some good fly monthes are just ahead of us except then we have hawks and things can get real sporting LOL. Winters are pretty good except we have hawks and weather that can devistate a kit in a heatbeat. Well maybe Spring then, uh oh, now everything in the kitbox wants to breed and screw off. well we still have Summer, shit its 105 out there and nothing wants to fly. Welcome to the world of Rollers LOL LOL

Thats Ok Paul I'll shake things up a bit, just hang on LOL.
The convention was great and saw a lot of old friends and met some new one's that I've been talking on line with. I met Mark from this site out there and all he wanted to do was fight LOL. My wife slapped him around a bit and he shaped up fast LOL.

Scott, you're just lucky she was there. Lol I had a great time and feel like I learned a little by talking to some of you older guys. Lol I sent you an email, let me know if you receive it, I'm not very experienced in computers or rollers.
