Does that make scence? I mean if half of my kit isn't performing as good as the other half, is the bad half holding the good half back from their true potential? Do pigeons work like this?

Jeff, as a general rule, I think it is safe to say that activity begets activity, after sufficient training and air time some are not rolling, either they are late developers (would this be the case for your family and they simply need more time to develop?) or just don't have the same desire to roll as the others. If this is the case, one suggestion is to replace them with the better birds from a second kit over time.

You should be getting uniform performance from your rollers if they are all coming from the same family. If they are a "hodge podge" of familys then all bets are off and anything can (and will) happen. FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

Thanks, Tony! I don't have a family myself yet! It was just something that I was pondering.

No problemo! What are your goals for the next year as far as moving your program forward? I myself am thinking of breeding 2 entire kits from a proven pair of breeders and fly them in competition next year.

I have plenty of birds to use as fosters and I like what I am getting from the pair. I am considering focusing the next 1 or 2 years around this "leg" of my Ruby Roller family and see how they turn out.

My original foundation cock is now 12 years old and I have several sons from him doing very well in the breeding loft but this one cock out of this family just stands out and so does its youngsters.

But I can actually go in a couple directions, but this particular direction gets me pumped! FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

Jeff you sound like a thinker. Yes you hit the nail on the head. Put a star in a kit of bums and you'll see a lot less of the star.
