George I think you kind of answered your own question..lol. A lot of guys do shut down due to the hawks or weather and are willing to part with their late hatches since they can't fly them and develop them as they need to be. Personally I like late hatches myself because I do fly through the winter and I like how the late hatch (summer/early fall) youngsters come in during the cold months and it gives me more to choose from come fall. Like any roller, they are only as good as you allow them to be regardless of what time of year you raise them.

George. After my kit boxes are full I always sell a few kits of young.(Probably all World Champions)Helps pay the feed bill for the year.I have anywhere from 350 to 400+ rollers all the time and it takes a lot of feed to feed them.As Brian said they are still just as good as the Spring hatch.

I fly most of the year too, especially the younger later hatch birds. I do let go of about a round of babies in the later part of the year but I find that about 50% of the late hatches don't make it, however I seem to produce a few very outstanding late hatches every year even though they get less air time then the older ones.
I normally don't cull any birds unless they are problem birds so they stay around here until another bird replaces them unless they are very more then about 14 months old and not doing much.
I would never breed from a bird that late but like I said if they aren't a problem I can keep them around a while, especially the hens that are very nice to keep around.
