Do you guys have a cut off point as far as the wind goes that you won't fly your birds? Is there a specific mph range that you use?

If it's to rough for me outside it's not safe to fly my birds. But then to I have lost 2 kits this year due to my dumbness.
I have no trouble with wind gusts up to 35 MPH but Flat winds will cause my birds to drift to far away.My family of birds thrive on windy days. They really enjoy them.It probably depends on the terrain where each one lives. These mountains here in Central Pa.are not very forgiving. If you Snooze you Lose.David S.

Any thing above 25 MPH is not good for my birds as they go in direction of winds and most of then time not visible until they decide to some down. Thanks, -Rauf

If it is any more than about 5 mph or so, I don't fly them. Not for fear of loosing them, but for fear of teaching them bad flight habits like circling, banking, and the worst, fast flying. I ruined way too many young kits flying in the ever-present afternoon 15-20 mph winds we have here. A little breeze is okay as long as they will still course the sky.

I live in Amarillo Texas, the second windiest city in America. If I waited til the wind was 5 mph I could fly three days year.I cut off at about 20 mph. Much higher and they seem to have to work too hard. Then they also run the risk of being blown into unfamiliar territory. The only thing I can see good about this is everyone else here has the same conditions.lol
