Well I'll grab the stirring stick then ....

As a personal preference, I dont like the look of the crested ones. They just dont look like rollers. I dont know how they roll, and it doesnt matter to me. I think they're F-ugly. Theres lots of different breeds of pigeons I dont like of either. I dont mean any disrespect to you Hector, but since you asked ...

I trust that you are a person of intergrity and if you were to send those to anybody you would represent them as the 'side project' that they are. I would hope anyone else experimenting with projects would do the same.

The muffs I dont mind, they look more how I expect a roller to look.

The ones with the crest remind of me NY Flying Flights LOL.

How are the ones with the muffs performing?? I think the muffs would cause more wind friction. They do not seem very aerodynamic.

Hector, They are not my cup of tea, but you pay to feed them and there is no way you could say they are Birmingham's, so enjoy my friend! When all is said and done, that is the point!

Take care

Hector
I think this recipe will work to give you something to stir the pot with...Just substitute birds above for chicken in the recipe..lol good luck with your projects Hector.

Ingredients
1 (3 pound) whole chicken 4 carrots, halved 4 stalks celery, halved 1 large onion, halved water to cover salt and pepper to taste 1 teaspoon chicken bouillon granules (optional)
Directions
Put the chicken, carrots, celery and onion in a large soup pot and cover with cold water. Heat and simmer, uncovered, until the chicken meat falls off of the bones (skim off foam every so often).
Take everything out of the pot. Strain the broth. Pick the meat off of the bones and chop the carrots, celery and onion. Season the broth with salt, pepper and chicken bouillon to taste, if desired. Return the chicken, carrots, celery and onion to the pot, stir together, and serve.

Sorry to hear you have BOP problems, to many kit birds in the air will attract them.

Hector out of curiosity do you breed crested to crested or crested to none crested out of your crest line? The reason for asking is that I breed Gloster Canaries which is a crested breed of canary and we cannot breed crested to crested because of a lethal gene that eventually cause all young from this breeding to die in the nest That is why we breed crested to a Corona which is non crested of the same breed.
Regards,
Raul.

Hey Raul
No i dont have problems mating 2 crest together, they still produce both crest and plain head.
I started with a crested hen some old man bred from his rollers,so i brought it home and mated her to a few of my best rollers i had, from there it was a up hill battle because many where rolling down,it took me 5 years to finally stabilize the family.
But that's the fun of a project,if its easy it would get boring,,LOL

Hi Hector... very interesting looking birds you have there.

I was just wondering;

1) How many different family of rollers do you have?

2) How many kitboxes are you working with at the moment? I'm sure you fly the muffs and cresents seperate from the Birminghams... right?

Hey Marcus
I have 4 different family's,
I have 4 kit boxes, and everything is mixed in,as they start rolling ,i move them up accordingly.
What ever is rolling good ,meaning fast and deep will go in my main team. The Falcon is back,so i keep refilling my main team as i loose them.
I don't believe that you have to have one family to get them to roll together, its in the trainer, not the family.
