What do you think are the strong points of your current family?

What are the weak points of your family?

Thanks

Easy, strong points would be roll quality and kitting. Weak points would be frequency, but I am working on that. Have to keep up with those Higgins pigeons...lol.

Brian,
I'm curious as to how frequent your birds are and what you are doing to increase the frequency. Also, you mentioned (as a joke I think) that you had to keep up with the Higgins birds. How do your birds stack up against Jerry's for quality?

Damn Russ, why do I gotta be the huckleberry?..lol. For frequency its like the other things, just gotta select for it when I can I suppose. I tried stiff birds that rolled great before, only to breed more stiff ones like them. I, probably like most guys, just keep track of what birds bred the frequency and which birds were the most frequent in the kit I can breed from. I even mated a couple of over frequent birds from last year (not together), birds I would consider culls and usually would have culled, because they were too frequent and couldn't keep up with the kit. I did this just to see what the limitations are and how close I can get to getting more frequency without sacraficing heart, control and strength. As far as Jerry goes, he flys some really nice birds, obviously good enough to win the state fly this year. I prefer the quality of roll of the birds I fly more than his, but that is what everyone says about their own birds right..lol.

Thanks Brian. If I remember correctly, Dale C. is flying some of the birds from your family? I have seen Dale's birds on one occasion and there were a few really nice fast spinners that day. I thought he said they were out of the 272 stuff he got from you? Do others experience the same frequency with this family? Sorry for all the questions but I am curious

LOL, I wouldn't call them from MY family. Dale wanted some 272 stuff and Tim sent him my way so I gave him a pair which are basically birds from John Vandenbroek. I'm glad to hear that they have produced some nice ones for him. Frequency with those birds of that direct family that I have have always been either a little stiff or plain nuts. I have seen some that others have which are basically the same background that were nicely frequent.
Brian.
