A question is asked and usually with sketchy information. Sometimes it's traumatic, even life threatening and the problem has developed past the preventive stage into the damage control or save what is left stage. My heart demands, I try to help, but what if I'm wrong? Newbies helping newbies seems a path for disaster and often is. So, I guess, my question is...."Should I (We) ignore the cry for help or chance being responsible"? Not monetarily, but were it counts, in the wee hours when you lie starring at the ceiling wondering if your advice caused another fancier pain.

Thom, PLease do not loose sleep at night from giving advice. Newbies like myself are unsure of many things with these birds, But hopefully we are smart enough to use the information that is usefull and disregard the rest. I hope that we are also smart enough to understand teh limitations that a forum likes this has.
I have appreciated your posts, and the post from other fanciers. They have help me understand the these birds a little better. They have also helped me prevent problems, and deal with problems becasue of what they responded to someone elses problems.
I hope that the posts keep coming, even someone follows a suggestion that does not work, it could not have been any worse than the nothing, but worrying they were doing.

Are you getting sentimental Thom? Or maybe just mental. LOL. How are your birds doing? All any of us can do is give an educated guess from what we have learned from our experiances with these birds. You have helped me with more than one issue I've come across and I thank you for it.

Thom Don't loose any sleep worrying, newbies like me like to soak all the experienced guys we can for info. RT post 649 says it right, we also ask questions from people were we value their opinion.

Hey All, Scott, there was nothing that stirred my grits. I just want everyone to understand that just because some oldfart says it does not make it the only answer. I love this board and it has helped me tremendously. I have a lot of respect for the board as a whole and even more for individuals. I have made a lot of good friends and I enjoy talking to them and helping when I can. I don't sleep very well anytime, so it's not that it's keeping me awake but that I'm thinking because I am awake.

Take care my friends

Oldfart..just remember you are not telling others what to do , you are giving options choices to choose from.

The responsibilities lie with the indivduals making their choices they choose to post and ask the questions. The responsibility lies not with you for what they choose to do.

Be happy you are a good person and start thinking about yourself and what makes you happy and less about please ing others .Sometimes good peoples hearts can give and give which causes our brains to exhaust our selfs ....burn out .Take a break from the site for awhile do something different,

there is more to life than this hobby keep things balanced .The birds and the hobby do not define who you are ..its just a hobby that sometimes i belieave we love to escape to get away from all the other demands put on our hearts from the other aspects of our lives.

Sometimes these things become so over consumeing

Hey John, I'm just a contrary worry wart! I would be bummed out if I did not get my daily fix of R.P.D.C I don't know if I had a point other then there are real people on the other keyboard. To me if a question has been asked a thousand times it is still important to the person asking and deserves a well thought out response. I was reminding myself.

Take care my friend

Thom, your heart has always been in the right place. anyone who asks for help on this or any other forum should also know that the advice given, is given to help, but its not the only way. sometimes the majority responds in a similar way, but even that doesn't mean that its right. heavens knows how many 'old wives' tales there are. as long as the person understands that the advice he or she is getting has worked for you, you've done all you can to help them. its been a pleasure reading your responses to the numerous questions posted here. you've always tried to help, and that should be solace for you, knowing that all the others here know you as a friend who cares.

Hey Everyone, Russ, I just wanted to add, I'm as much a newbie as anyone. Steve is absolutely correct. In times of crisis this is a wonderful place and resource. Solutions that might be out of reach can be found for the asking. It also has been pointed out that each fancier must decide what course of action they will follow. I truly appreciate everyone who responded. You all are the best and this is a great site!

Take care my friends! :)
Thom
