By Don Ouellette
In 1981 I met Chan Grover. Through Dan meeting Roger Baker . Roger told Dan to look up Chan and we did. Had we known that all along Chan was a half hour from our house we could have saved a lot of time. Chan was good to us. He gave us great birds. He was kind of tough but we were used to that because our dad was the same way. We enjoyed many hours spent with Chan. Chan knew so much we were like sponges soaking up as much information as possible. Chan did this for hundreds of fanciers for many years. He taught me a lot about Rollers.I am proud to call him my mentor.

It's truly a sad day not only for the roller fancy but for mankind. Chan Grover was a true gentleman in every sense of the word and we are all better for having known him. May he and his splendid wife, Gloria, rest in peace. Chan, you will be missed.

It's so sad to hear this. I met Chan a few years ago and watching him interact with other fanciers, it was plain to see he was admired by all. He will be missed.

Yes indeed... Mr. Chandler Grover is defintely one of the all-time great rollermen.

I've ran across some of his hard work with these beautiful acrobats of the air. Very impressing! Though I've never met him.... the only thing I can honestly say about the man is job well done.

Rest in peace Mr. Chandler Grover.

I am a bit shocked, Having talked to Chan two months ago. I knew he had been to the hospitol and I had a bad cough that was going around. He said come by when the Iris's were blooming and we could sit outside in the fresh air.

Chan read here everyday. All the pigeon sites. He never commented but we would talk all the time about posts and what was going on. He read every single post for years. I will miss talking to him. May God bless his family and son Graig. Bill C

Bill - You are so correct. I was scheduled to go and see him again a few years ago and he started talking about one of the post and he stated that he did read all of them.

To the Grover Family- as only my second year back in to Rollers I was not of the GOOD FORTUNE to meet Mr.Grover. I can honestly say that I have never heard anyone ever say anything bad about Him or his rollers. I wish that I would have had the to chance to meet such a GREAT AMERCAN. Thanks CHAN for all you did for America in its Service and in the Roller World YOU WILL BE MISSED. GOD BLESS YOU FAMILY IN THERE TIME OF GRIEF.

I remember when the site first started back in 2004, he was the focus of a particular thread and his family had a concern that with this notoriety his birds might be targeted by thieves. I reluctantly agreed to remove them, not wanting to offend a Great Roller man and Legend. Now, 7 years later there are over 41 threads that mention him! I really hope he enjoyed reading about the positive impact he made on so many who frequent this site and others. Rest In Peace.

After the Sacremento convention, Jay Alnimer, Dave Szabatura and I wnet to visit Chan. It was a special time, and I left wishing we had more time to spend with him. He had so many interesting stories and perspectives to share. God bless you, Chan, and thanks for sharing with everyone.
