You are ALL right!

My flashover strain has Ruby blood flowing through the veins....I have a Ruby Foundation Cock and a Mort Foundation Cock....they are BOTH in my flashover strain..sometimes overlapping....somtimes not. I have many Mort Hens and Ruby Hens and they are given as a shot of spice to the overall stew that we call the flashover strain.

Now... the last time I flew all pure Ruby or Mort was in 2006...that was the first year of the crosses. Since 03 it has been me making the choices in my loft...but in 2006 is when they became my strain...crosses and decisions made by me. So....what you see now is from the fancier..just like the many other fanciers that do the same thing...they learn the birds....

So....is it the Ruby Rollers that have been winning flys...is it Tony....No....it is Me and my decisions over the last 4 years. But......I can give credit where credit is due....so...The Ruby' have the goods as well as the Mort birds....or I would not be able to compete...without a nice clean piece of canvas you cant paint a picture......without a foundation you cant build the house...The foundation starts it all....but when the product is under construction....like our birds....lots of hands are thrown into help...plumbers, framers, painters, tile, carpet..etc.....just like you have the Ruby...Mort...Red .....Cell...Feed...Weather....Mentors....you see,,,,,, everything builds the house...but the general contractor put it all together....I am the general contractor...

So...you are all right...the foundation was the Mort and Rubys.....the house was built with other tools...overseen by me..the General Contractor...or coach..or what have you.

So....Everyone is right...there is no wrong answer.

What was wrong with Daves post? I felt he was just giving a legitimate point. It is like....just the other side of a story. Remember..there is no wrong or right to any of these posts...everyone is right...even Dave.

Opinions are never going to be one sided.

i would hope if someone is booted, it is because they have made an attempt to harass or threaten another. sharing one's opinion should never be a reason to be censored. otherwise no one will be safe to share their opinion here if its deemed different or opposite to the majority.

Okay, listen up, I am only going to say this once, read the post dave made and my response to it. First, there is a history with me not appreciating dave (I feel really sure that it is mutual). I booted him before and I only allowed him back on a recommendation from someone I respect. Second, I made myself clear about his post in my post. This is between he and I.

Trust me, dave speaks from 2 sides of his mouth and I have had enough of him. Trust me, this is personal and not so much on the merit of the words of his post but the lie behind his true intention of making the post. If you don't get it, tough. Pot stirrers are being duly noted!

What you did wasn't right Tony.. I don't care how you shake it... what you wrote from reading between the lines was completly off base and in no way shape or form did his post lean that way.. to top it off his post was a 100 0/0 spot on.

Well, I don't understand it. But, I haven't been involved in any correspondences between Tony and Dave. I don't know what has went on between them before.

Dave and I have gotten cross ways with each other, but the water keeps flowing beneath the bridge. The same could be said of Tony..........and most everybody. I don't hold grudges so it is difficult for me to understand a grudge or one who holds them.

Scott, thanks, your opinion is duly noted.

Nick, right or wrong, I do the best I can. My friends and supporters will cut me slack because they know how I have tried to conduct myself in these matters and others. When I hear evidence to change my mind, I am happy to do so, until then, I will go with my decision based on the facts I know.

I am loosing my confidence in the fact that this is an open forum. It is an open forum as long as the subject isnt under scrutiny by the owner of the site. I started the mess regarding this subject and I will stand by my original post and if that gets me the boot then so be it, Regards, Joe

Tony I didnt get involved with you and Daves posts in the past so I really dont know the history nor do I care. If you feel slighted by Dave you are more than capable of seing the direction his post was headed especially with the history you two seem to have. I didnt see alot wrong with the post in question but then again I wasnt looking for it. Joe

Boy, I get busy with work for a few days and all heck beaks lose. Well back to the orginal post, Congrats to Paul and Scott, The rest of us are sure going to try and put you two in the back seat for the fall fly! LOL It was a great fly day and Congrats to Larry Ellis too. He could have very well been in the top two if two red tails had not chase his birds up high and split the kit. He only got to fly for 5 to 8 minutes, so his score would have been much higher. Larry is in his secon year flying big time and I hope he does well on the next big fly.

Hope to see you guys during the finals. Contrags to Sid also! Brad Winward was a teriffic judge and I am glad to have met him. Bill C

I am sorry if my complement ruffled people here. That was not my intention. I meant it to be in good faith. I like to give credits to those people that deserve it. In science, of which is my background, we feel like we stand on the shoulder of giants and that we can't be here without those from the past.

I do agree that loft management is equally important as the birds. I am sure of this, but no matter what loft management you have or skills that you have, a bad bird is a bad bird. (Obviously we may have a good bird, but if our loft management sucks, the bird will not show its true potentials.)

In homers, of which I am most familiar, if you want to win or increase your chances of winning, you have to go to a good breeder who has birds that win. Then hopefully you have good management skills and ended up making your own strain that can win. I think Paul is doing that. He is making his own family strain out of Ruby and Mort.

So what now? Shall the credit be like this then:

50% manager : 50% birds (breeders get part of the credit)

or 50% manager : 40% birds : 10% luck.

I prefer that we celebrate on the success of Paul and Scott who could represent us to the world.

Now I feel bad if someone got booted because Joe and I started discussing something which may not have been too clear to our views. I like to hear different views. We can learn a lot more if we see things in many different viewpoints.

The first thing fanciers ask is what family are the birds you have. They don't ask how you managed them to do so well. Credit should go to the original breeder of the birds first then to the fancier second. Even if they are good or bad. However, if the family is known to be an outstanding family and the new owner screw them up, then all of us would know that the foundation was strong but the manager was terrible.

I bought couple of birds from Tony last year to measure them and I was happy I made the purchase. I wanted to judge them myself before I can make judgment. And I ask anybody who want to smart mouth the Rubys to do as I did and take a test drive. If the pair was not to your liking, breed them for couple rounds and test the offspring before taking a final position.

However, Tony...I know you had bad experience with Dave in the past but I don't think his recent post was out-of-line. He was expressing his view point of who should get the credit. I agree with Scott on this one. I like Paul's explanation of building the house. Please Tony, take things with the benefit of the doubt before shooting the gun and I understand that your guards are up to protect yourself from anybody you would consider riff raff but I know Dave is not a riff raff.

How many people are selling birds like hot cakes because they have the Reed, the Higgins, the Turner or Mee among other names attached to them? Why not the Ruby's!

I know of many people who purchased the Mee squeeks for $50 a peice and dscarded them because they did not work for them and I know of many people who purchased the same and they love them...so what is the fuss all about!!!

Tony deserves the credit for the work he has done. I would too if they were my strain. Bottom line.

Excellent Post Jay....and I have to agree with You and Scott on Dav's post. I know their is a past with Dave and Tony...but to me...the post was not meant the way Tony took it. I read it 20 times and it was just an opinion and I half way agree with Dave's opinion....but not my sight and there is history that we dont know about....and I have faith in Tony's decisions...he is pretty sound in the noggin....

I figure now is about as good a time as any.

I want to apologize to all of the people I offended, pissed off, disrespected, neglected, and was blatantly rude (uncordial) to.

.....also

I want to apologize to all of the people that I might offend, piss off, disrespect or be blatantly rude to in the future.

MEMO: The first duty of men is to take none of the principles of moral conduct upon trust.... and to do nothing without a clear and individual conviction that the right thing must always be said or done to others.

{P.S.} Way to go Paul & Scott... that's what this is really about. For the love of the roll. Fantastic work gentlemen!

Well I'll put my two cents in being that I was at Paul fly and this is my second year seeing his kits.I will be flying in my club preliminary May 15th. My first time competing. I ordered 13 2008 Ruby squeakers from Tony July-08 to September-08. Flew them until Mid November lost about 4 to BOP and had 9 left that I started breeding off of . This year I'm flying 5 kits. Two 2008/2009 hold overs one first round 2010 young of 20 right now puts me at 3 kits.I will start training a second round of 18 2010 young this week which will put me at 4 kits and ending with the last round of 18 2010 young training first week in July=5 kits. 90% of my flyers are Ruby's and Ruby crosses. I will stock at least 15 birds from the two 2008/2009 kits soon after the preliminary fly and fly everything else out for the remaining year until the BOP shut me down which is usually in Mid October early November. This is just my second year flying a whole season and I believe my birds are ready to do really well. I am very pleased with what you have done with your family of birds Tony giving me the ingredients I need to cook a pretty good soup and be an effective manager. The birds are very easy to handle and are really intelligent. Hopefully I will add some positive news to this post the minute I get my score. I'm pretty confident the birds will do well. The Ruby birds are just as good as anyhting else I've seen and I've seen alot of birds flying in the last 22 months----------

Congratulations Paul and Scott. Tough weather or not, everyone faces the same conditions and challenges leading up to and on fly day. A little good luck helps(often times we need some!) but you also have to have the management skills and then the birds to take advantage of that luck. Enjoy the finals and good luck. Too bad this thread turned into a debate about the background of the birds and who the credit should go to rather then acknowledging your accomplishments. Enjoy your next fly! Don M Macs Rollers
