I have a cock that has had a lame wing for over a week now. He appears healthy and eats and tries to tread his hen when she gets near but this is confusing me. Is a lame wing a symptom of sickness with no other apparent signs? Maybe he hurt his wing in a fight or something else, I don't know? He can't even make it to the lower perch like his wing is broken but I can't feel any swelling. Please help.

I found this info on paramyxo, as I have a hen with one wing that droops, but seems otherwise healthy. I think she had an injury that has now healed. She flies in the coop. www.wingswest.net/pigeons/health/paramyxo.html

Parathyphoid is what often causes the loss of a wing or leg due to swelling in the joint during the infection. Usually these lumps can be felt and some will heal fine while others will permanently loose use of the limb. The other is when in open lofts, shit happens. Overly aggressive cocks can battle hard and often in the fall to the floor one hits a perch or hits the feeder the bird ends up with a lame wing or leg for a while, just like if it had rolled down and hit the loft roof. Two things are going to happen. Either it will heal up in a few weeks and he will be back to normal or it won't heal up at all and you will have to breed from him from an individual pen. Brian.
