Well first I would say to scroll down on the subject list and check out "flying time". Some good posts in there on how to get birds up. But first, you have a young team with birds that are rolling so deep they could hit at 50 ft up? Hum. Sounds like you need to feed them more and get a big flag and wave that sucker around till they take their eyes off that kit box. Also try adding some millet too, if given on consecutive days that will put some distance between their ass and the ground. You can also box them up and take them down the street and let them go, if you have trees they will get up to look for home. Don't be afraid to scare them up. Good luck.
Brian.

Either you have to feed them "mix" or if not then add some 15-20% safflower or peas to what ever you feeding.

You can not just feed birds wheat and milo all time. It sounds like they need boost. I think it is important to feed the birds "MIX" or "PEAS" once a week.

First thing I would do is rule out "hunger" as a factor in low flying. I too would put them on a mix what is called "pigeon pop", available from Leech's Grain.

Second thing is break them into 2 separate groups and fly them. Everytime they came over the yard, I would throw a football high into the air, after a few outings of this, they tended to go higher when I have had this problem.

Keep them flying for at least an hour, use football, flagging them or whatever, let them know they are not going to land right away. You may have to increase fly time little by little.

Also try adding some experienced kit birds with them. Some suggestions, I hope they are useful. FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

IF YOUR YOUNG BIRDS WON'T GO HIGHER THAN 50 FT.I WOULD BE LOOKING FOR A BIRD THAT DOESN'T WANT TO FLY AND WANTS TO COME DOWN.WHEN THEY ARE YOUNG YOU ONLY NEED ONE BIRD TO KEEP THEM ALL DOWN.I WOULD CHASE THEM UP AND LEAVE THEM TILL THEY CAME DOWN AND TAKE THE FIRST ONE DOWN OUT OF THE KIT.YOU HAVE TO WATCH THEM AND SEE IF YOU CAN SEE THE ONES THAT ARE FLOPPING AROUND AND FLYING VERY SLOW.ALSO ,ARE THERE OTHER BIRDS OUTSIDE IN THE TRAP THAT THEY CAN SEE?ONLY FLY THEM WITH NO BIRDS OUTSIDE.ALSO IF YOU HAVE OLDER AND YOUNGER BIRDS IN THE KIT THE YOUNGER ONES MAY NOT WANT TO FLY LIKE THE OLDER ONES

That could be from many things. It is possible that they have worms. When was the last time you de-wormed your birds? It could be that they're out of condition. I had my birds do the same when they were really young and trying to know the area and had worms. Once they were de-wormed and in condition along with being accustomed to the area around them, this problem stopped.

Another possibility is that you are maybe feeding your bird a mix of wild bird seeds that is not giving them enough nutrition. Stay away from parackeet seeds.

The other possibilities that maybe they see someting that you do not see, such as an arial predetor in the area. But once the preditor is near, your birds will fly very high.
