I thought it was very good and Bobby Wilson was great. Everything went fine right up and to the point the reporter ran his mouth about snakes being equal and the birds being inconsequential. I don't know Bobby, I wish I did, but my guess is he would not have made that statement and probably had his feelings hurt by it.

I thought it was great. I got my wife to watch it a couple of times. Now she doesn't think I'm the only one crazy about these birds. LOL

Thom....That was just wrong to compare to snakes. Years ago a friend and pigeon buddy,Johnny Otis told me how a pair of birds hatching eggs keep him home watching rather that going on his first holdup with local friends of his. They got cough,He went on to be a music legion.JDA

Thom, I think the reporter didn't want to give all the credit to the rollers, the point he is making is; its takes a big heard-ted person like Bobby Wilson to influence those kids life's.

Joe, If I had not been mentored and given birds by a very patient man, I would not have went the way I did. In short he and the birds saved me.
John, I am not taking anything away from Bobby Wilson. I think what he is doing is admirable. I understood the reporters point, I just thought it was a bad summation and distracted from Bobby's efforts.

Yeah Thom, I agree, the reporter could have promoted the sport and gave accolades to Bobby. I don't think the guy had any interest in the birds.

Joe, I agree, snakes are pets for a lot of people but a puppy will love you unconditionally. My birds will seek me out, sit on my shoulder, land all over me when I clean their pen.
John, The reporter could care less about the birds. Apparently he did not get it when Bobby said they are not flying rats. It was just a short piece to him, nothing more. Overall, I think it was great for our hobby and Bobby Wilson is a very nice man who is trying to help the youth in his community. Kudos to Mr. Wilson!

don't get too caught up in the reporters words, as i really don't think he 'got it'. either way, nice job by CBS to think it newsworthy, and allow Bobby to speak openly. bottom line is, this was an excellent piece that can only make our hobby appear even better than it has in the past. let's be honest, our wives and friends really have no idea why we love our birds, even though we tell them. people are usually cool to new ideas, when they first learn about them. i would have liked them to explain a bit more about how the hobby is a lot more than just a tool to keep youth pointed in the right direction. however, i'm ok with what they ran, when you consider at least 6 million people saw it!!!!

FWIW: we had a bump of 50% more site traffic than on a normal Monday night. I am sure Bobby's site had a bump too.

It all started with one injured bird and I Tracked Down the owner. My first mentor The late Abe Bogan, REST IN PEASE!! He gave me my first birds 1975. Ive been around the world sense and came right back to the one thing that I love. HE SAVED ME!!!
