I agree Pinwheel. It seems like mine start new rounds at different times. I have one pair that will lay again no more than 10 days after the squeakers are out. I have another pair that refuse to start another round until the squeakers are out of the nest. They are very particular about "their" nest bowl and don't like using others, even if there are two in the same box. I feel it just depends on the pair.

10 " hen should lay 1st. egg
28 " ( 18 days after lay) should hatch
44 " ( 16 days after 1st. hatch) hen should lay 2nd. round
49 to 60 Days (wean the 1st round)21 to 30 days
62 Days (18 days after 2nd round laied) will hatch

As soon as the cock start doing the feeding. That is usually about 5 to 6 days from hatching.

John make dam sure that you candle those eggs at 4-5 days to make sure that they are developing lots of time hens first eggs are not fertle and it would be a waste of time. Dennis

It's nice to have an upper & lower nest in each compartment and when youngsters are feathered pretty well, standing & walking a little , place them in the lower nest. When ready to lay next round the pair will use the upper nest, unbothered by those on the floor.
