Looking at getting a breeding pair and was wondering if anyone had heard of Paul Platz's birds. Like I've said, I'm very new to rollers and could use some input. Thanks.

He has some notoriety for white, orange eyed rollers.

No body that I know flies Platz birds in competition. People collect them for other reasons than performance.

I have a few Platz birds,They doo spin,However mine tend to be on the large side, and i mean Large side.
I don't breed many because i don't like how big they come out,i use the main pair for fosters.
They are pretty birds because they are white orange eye,But i wouldn't breed a hole kit of them.

I was outbid at auction and have decided to invest in a few Ruby birds. I'm really looking for performance and would like to build up a nice kit.

Try the Ruby rollers,They are as good as any other family, they will be as good as the handler makes them,if you know what your doing ,you will get good results,if you dont any family will suck.
Good luck.Hector

Good luck on whatever breed you decide to start with. As stated above, "it is all in how you handle your program".

Hector,
Have you tried bringing the size down through line-breeding?

Hey Cliff
To tell you the truth,i don't really breed them,i use them for fosters,I have bred a few here and there and they do roll pretty good.
But the original pair my friend got years ago, where huge, and the young he gave me which are the once i still have are also very big.
I already have too many projects so this one will have to wait.
Hector
