A clip of some more portable stuff. Nothing too fancy. Landings, take offs, some flying, no kitting, perhaps a few tumbles. business is slow

Thats really cool man. I like the Fantails too. Looks like a challange, something I'd like to maybe try in the future. Congratulations and the best of luck.

Nice Pinwheel. How nmuch time did you have to dedicate to the birds before they were fully trained? I might try this one day after I retire for kicks.

I am on top of a 4 story parking garage. Seems to be the best place for teaching them to do this. I go on the weekends only for now, when there are no cars or parking enforcement. My training going into this I feel is very limited. People say start young but I usually dont get them flying until they are 3 months. Not on purpose though, just has happened that way. THe key is o give the birds the best opportunity to succeed. Meaning when they are learning at least they should know how to trap, be comfortable around you, and come when called. You should also do in a place where the only place they can land is maybe on the ground or at the level of the kit box. The parking garage works great for that. Otherwise I had them land on top of a stadium when I did it on a parking lot and they stayed out all night. So conditioning them pre flight, and making them robotic to trapping and feeding when called is probably the biggest hump Ive experienced. So far working with these non squeekers that have never been out still works ok. I would prefer to work with squeekers but oh well. TO be honest I feel the hardest part also is finding a nice portable contraption. The only birds Ive lost where ones that I had not trained/conditioned that were a little spooky themselves. I have only had 2 just fly off for whatever reason in the few months I been doing this.

BTW. I would not considered these guys fully trained as I am sure If I took them to a more distracting environment they wouldnt handle well I feel. SO not sure how long it takes. I would assume once they are consistent with taking off flying together for a good amount of time and landing when called. You can take them anywhere. There are some gentlemen on here that have been flying for years. They know lots more then I.

i flew portable many years ago, and it was a lot of fun. i had issues where i lived, so i couldn't fly there, so portable was the best and only way. i didn't know too much about training, but i did get my birds to recognize the trailer and i flew them for about 6 months til i had an overfly, and lost them all.
