Wanted to get this out so guys can start to make plans and possibly start thinking of if you will be able to attend and even donate raffle or auction items or birds. This has become a huge sucess for the NCRC and is the major fundraiser for the club each year. Those that have attended in the past can surely attest that it is a great time for all. I will be getting a date together in the neer future so please keep an eye out and when it appears do me a fovor and pass the word on. Joe

OK guys and gals. We have a date for the annual BBQ. We will be having the event this year on March 27 and it will be at the Micke Grove park in Lodi at the same location as years past. I will have more info comming as we get closer but just start thinking about what you would like to bring for the raffle. Also we need volunteers for the cooking and also I need somebody to help with setting up and collecting raffle items. Please help if you are available. Thanks Joe Urbon

Kham let me know what kind of deadline you ned so that I can get you a flier to put into the bulletin. I am still trying to get some of the particulars so I dont quite have it ready at this time. Also you can add my Email to your email list for the bulletin. Not sure if you have started that yet but when you do put me down.

Also on a more personal note Kham I wanted to thank you for stepping up to do the bulletin. It is the most demanding job of all of the officers and historically been the toughest to get somebody to volunteer for. Again many thanks to you Kham. If I can help you in any way feel free to give me a call. 530-216-8366. Joe

Okay Joe I got you down for the bulletin in the email. Joe if you can get me a flier at the end of next week that would be great.

I am thankful to you guys for letting me be in charge of the bulletin. I see it as a stepping stone to contribute to the club. I will definitely ask for your help if I ever need anything. You, Paul, Bill, and Ken will be my biggest help.

I think it would be good to mention that anyone dontating birds to the NCRC show for auction will recieve 50% of the money. Many of the top flyers in Northern Calif dontate birds and a few others.

It would be up to Joe Urban but if birds were donated and buyer was to buy a box and pay for shipping they probably would not sell for as much if they were not their to take home. So far there has always been good birds and the local guys know the local birds donated. Just some thoughts, Bill C

I agree with you Bill but if somebody is willing to donate birds that will be available at a later date and there is potential buyer for them and the understanding that they will have to be shipped is ok then by all means. We are happy to get any and all donations. Remember also that you dont have to be a master flyer to donate birds. Sometimes it is interesting just to see if somebody else with a different management stand point can get your birds to do much more than you can and that my friends is a great learning tool for both parties. I had a conversation with Tony Kelly and I will write a note for our bulletin for next month.

Tony Kelly as the Judge is basing his skills on performance birds and not show rollers. He likes a medium to medium small bird. He is not fond of large rollers or very small rollers. Small details do help with kit birds in a rollers shows, such as make sure they are clean and free of parasites.

As with most judges they will pick a bird that they would take home as #1 bird and if they could not have that one they would take the #2 and so on.

Tony is into performance rollers and so if you bring in a fat stock bird it might not do as well as a bird in good flying conditon or at least a bird that is a kit bird young and old kit bird. Bill C

Gabe I am not certain at this time who all of the donors are but I know that myself, Ken Firl, paul Fullerton, Ramsey and Scott Cambell have commited. Paul is actually in charge of collecting the donation birds but I believe those that I just mentioned are what he told me last week. There were others that he was still waiting to here from. Joe

Hi Joe. Kham sent me all the show information. Thanks. I am planning on coming. With flying in I can't bring any birds of course, but after reading Bill C. post, I am willing to make a winner's choice donation of a few squeakers if they are willing to have them shipped at a later date. Or the So.Cal. guys I could meet them at one of their shows as I am down there to their shows all the time. They can choose from my Doug or Don Ouellette, Tim Decker, Randy Gibson, Willie Wright, or my Mac's Rollers developed out of these families. I will only breed out of proven producers for this type of donation, just like my WC auction donation. I am also planning on framing some copies of my roller prints such as 514, Plona, and a few others for your raffle. I am excited and looking forward to coming up as I have never met your group as a whole. Met you when you came down and judged, met Scott when he judged, met Bret Timeus via email when I bought his auction birds of then internet several years ago, and of course met Don Ouellette. Until the show, enjoy your next fly! Don M. Mac's Rollers

Marcus,

The last time I talked to Ramsey he said the he and Don O. would be coming. I know they made it last year.

So far on the birds for auction....I have the group that Joe mentioned above. I know David Vang is shaking bushes in his neck of the woods to get birds to the auction...I have a phone message into Abel Ibarra....to see if he can round up some birds down from South....I have yet to get commitments...but like in years past....lots of people bring birds the day of the Show...I know Bayanni and his group always bring dome birds...and The African American Roller Club fliers in the bay area bring birds too....

That is where we are at on the birds.

Is somebody bringing butcher paper and tape for the tables....or does anybody know if we even have any left from previous shows.

Do we have the show pens taken care of?

I say we take the time to brainstorm right now just to make sure we have not forgotten anything.

I have the T-shirts done and Larry will have them to sell. The plaques are done. I have one bag of feed for the show donated from Hayes Feed in Woodland.

I know Joe you said that you had the food napkins, paper plates etc.

Soda

Who has the raffle tickets?

Hi my name is....Name tags and sharpies

Show Cages?

Butcher Paper?

any other ideas..

I have my plane ticket, a ride to the show, and a roller friend's house to crash at so I am set! I will bring framed roller pics for the raffle and donate a few squeakers if someone is willing to wait until their ready and pay shipping costs. Joe and NCRC guys, if I happened to buy a few birdes from the auction would one of you be willing to ship the birds to me? Of course I would cover the box and shipping costs, as well as perhaps buy lunch for the person who takes care of shipping them to me! Thanks and look forward to meeting your group on my first roller show in Northern Cal! !
