I just spoke with a friend that lives in the City of Los Angles.
He just informed me the his permit to keep pigeons in the city of LA,has gone up starting today, from 50dollars a year to 250 dollars a year,What has this country gone to,this is a crime, why do they want to make it so young school kids cant even enjoy a pigeon hobby ,without UNCLE SAM asking for a hand out.
I told him he should go to the next city council meeting and ask why such a big hike.
what do you guys think?

Hector, I think that if pigeons need a permit then so should every bird, every canary, every parrot, every parakeet. I also think pigeons help keep our young people stay off the streets and out of the hands of the bad guys. I would subsidize the keeping, care and feeding of pigeons with my tax dollars for any young person enrolled in an educational pursuit, even beyond high school.
No politician cares, but that is what I think.

I think that is a bunch of b.s.
But i can see it happening elsewhere, just like having to pay a license fee to have a dog, Most cities have that one in place already.
I dont agree with that 250 a year, but they know he already has pigeons, I would hate to see what happens if he dosent pay it and they pay him a visit.

I can't believe you have to have a permit to keep pigeons. That is absolutely nuts.I would go to the next council meeting and explain the good and the need for hobbies like this and no permit should be required at all. Our young do need hobbies like this and should not have to figure out a way to get the money for a permit. Scott, this has nothing to do with unions and you know it. Quit your bitching about the gov. and go to town meetings express your views and maybe we can change for the better. The squeaky wheel gets the oil. Dems and Rep. are taking this country to the shithouse and neither has a care about it.

This is not a Federal government issue. This a local government issue. They hiked the rate because they need money. It is another form of taxation. You can fight it all you can and it won't do any good because they are hungry for your money.

What you need to check is the provisions for the percentage they can raise the prices on a permit.
A lot of government entities can only raise permit prices by a certain percentage annually. This might be something they are trying to sneak by. Contact your local representative on the city council and express your displeasure,do a little digging and see what they are up to.
