After judging our club fly I want to compliment Mr. Chavarria on a nice kit with good quality and depth, he scored 87 points alot better than the 6 points from last month , could of scored alot more if it wasnt for the heat of the day, good job though of taking care of the out bird problem.
My question to the post is does the heat of the day affect the birds tremendously from performing 100 degrees plus?

Hey Dale, whats up? I think for the next fly I am going to take some of the breeders and get them ready to fly. I want a 20 bird kit for the next one...

To respond to your question, I think the heat does affect them. Those birds were down within about 30 minutes, they normally fly at least 45 minutes.

But it's always something! lol I am having a great time in the USA club and you guys are great to welcome me into it. If you get me those pics of birds in the air I will get them up with the ones from last fly. Hey take it easy dude! FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

I think it definately does, especially for the birds that are working the hardest. They might not want to kit... and fly by themselves becuase they know if they return to the kit they'll have to spin again

Hey Dale, I can tell you that there is no doubt the heat will kill a team's performance. This past weekend as you well know it was record breaking temps and we had our WC fly going on. It pretty much destroyed most of the teams performance. I mean for a team to get seven or eight scoreable breaks got them into the show. It was horrible. Quite a few teams either skied out or DQed in the heat. Some were flying in over 100 degrees at high noon. I had one team early that went stiff and one in the afternoon yesterday in 97 degrees at 11:30 and the were a little more active, but the roll quality suffered tremendously simply because they were trying their hardest not to roll.

Maybe we should tell Juan and the World Cup posse to let us fly at 6:00am and finish about 9ish....yeah right, I fly on the 29th I dont think there will be any kind of mother nature break but you never know. Hey Bri how did your birds do? Still have my hen right...lol

Dale, my main team went flat on me on comp morning. I think I peaked them on the last day before lock up because they flew through way too many breaks, but had the sizzle to come away with the best quality marks which kind of made up for their lack of performance as a group. My second team flew last on Tuesday. I slammed them together two days before and figured they would be good for 7-8 breaks in the heat if there was a breeze. Turns out I got the breeze and Ken gave them seven breaks which ultimately had me one break out from qualifying..lol. Man that was a stinger, but I was happy to see that I could put a team together real quick from my B and C teams and have a good idea how many scoreable breaks they were going to deliver. And yes, that black hen was in this group. I couldn't fly her in the main team because she can be too deep sometimes. I select my main team for birds I can trust and the second is usually the short ones or the crazy ones. She was tearing it up. If I don't breed from her after the Fall fly I'll let ya take her and use her over the breeding season. I have that pair together again. Good luck on your fly.
Brian.
