I do not belive this is a Almond.
My guess is it is a Ash red spread, with smokey, or some other darkening factor. It has ticking in the tail also to show that it carries blue.
I have a cock bird similar in color, I get alot of red from him. Many are know molting for the first time and are getting darker like the above bird.
Nice looking bird, I hope he rolls well, and can produce some winners for you.
