First of all I must confess that I know nothing about pigeons of any kind! My interest in this area is related to family history. I am a Whittingham, and have found out that my ancestors bred pigeons and 'created' the Whittingham strain. I am very keen to find out all I can about my ancestors and their pigeons, and would greatly appreciate any help. Does anyone have any bits of information, any paper cuttings, photos ...anything?

Many thanks.

Back in the 1960's in Baltimore I had somw Whittingham rollers. They were beautiful recessive red splashes. I was a kid and acquired these birds from Charles Albaugh in Baltimore and he may have some information for you. His address is below and I think youcan get his phone number on line. I hope this helps you.

Hello,
I know some fanciers in the UK (England)that still raise the old family of Whittinghams.
I am in the process of getting you someone to contact.
They may even knew your relatives.

Thanks, everyone, for your help - it's really appreciated. I look forward to the info on the UK people; I am in the UK myself.

If anyone has anything more to add, I'm happy to hear it! Thanks again.

Thanks Steve, that's great. (Yes, the address makes perfect sense to a Brit!) I have written to Mr Scott, and also to the Mr Albaugh that "showguy" told me about. I will let you know of any developments.

I promised to let you know of any developments, so here I am again! I received a letter from Mr. Albaugh, along with some super photos of his Whittingham pigeons, which was very exciting.

I also wrote to Mr. Scott, but sadly he passed away before he was able to reply.

I am pursuing other lines of enquiry, and will come back again if I find out anything of interest. Thank you again for your help - if anyone has any more information, I'd love to hear it.

Best wishes
Naomi

This is an interesting page i feel someone should be trying to obtain the true Whittingham rollers. They are truly a part of roller history I feel the old gentelman that passed away in UK would be a place to start tracking his birds to find pure Whittinghams and brought to this country any one interested..........
