How would you describe a bird that is wing changing during the roll?

Thanks

JD, a good birds is smooooooth in the roll,or fluid,a bird that is wingwitching is anything but,it's like a bent rim,it can be slight or it can be severe, the worst cases are from the birds that are trying to fight the roll or trying to come out of the roll and are fighting it,many times youngbirds will go through a phase of this and be far less than perfect and as they mature they just start letting it happen(the roll)and then the roll cleans up,but some will never mature out of it, others seem to be just be a glitch in the roll no matter what, which is probably a balance issue, thats my take

i like wingswitching. it looks like the bird is going faster.i have one and it goes 15-20 feet and it looks 2 times as fast, than the smooth birds. the smooth bird are nice but the wingswitching bird look like they work harder.

rollerboi, here are my thoughts: I believe we should have a baseline, that is a minimal standard by which to compare any rolling performance. Anything falling short of that is not rolling in the proper style???

If however, "working hard" is to be the baseline, then any roll is okay as long as the bird in question is working hard. It is my opinion that this is going backward.

We should work to maintain the recognized baseline which is more like Mother Lode Lofts description: "a good bird is smooooooth in the roll,or fluid...". If I were watching 2 birds perform as described, I would be more impressed with the correctly performing one. But I know I could enjoy watching the other as well.

If I were to choose only 1 to breed from, again it would be the correctly performing one. FLY ON! Tony Chavarria
