I have two coops I just built. I want to either paint or waterproof the wood so it doesnt warp. If I move the birds and paint only the OUTSIDE, and return them only after it has dried thoroughly, is this a problem? Also, we have a mosquito problem here. Any suggestions concerning mosquitos? I know we don't want to use pesticides around the birds.

I have to assume the mosquitos are getting into your lofts through an aviary or your trapping system, during the day. The only thing I can think of that I know works are the bug zappers with the ultra-violet lights. You could put them on a timer and use them for a couple hours or so in the evening. What ever works as far as that goes. Hope this helps.
