It has been awhile since I have posted anything on this sight. After going back and reading some of Bob Faulkner's comments I thought it best to let everyone know what is going on with the Show Roller at the present time. As President of the URCA, I have formed a committee to work with the NPA to get the Show Roller recognized as its own breed of pigeon. In an e-mail back from Harry Zelasko, President of the Canadian Roller Club, has informed me that their country has recognized the Show Roller as its own breed I beleive back in 1963. He was surprised that the United States did not follow suit. He also said that they never had all of the bickering and controversary about the fly vs. show that we seem to have had for years. Hopefully, when the Show Roller gets recognized as a separate breed from the Birmingham Roller both parties can at least try to get along. If anyone would like to learn more about the Show Roller they can visit my sight at www.showrollers.com or e-mail me at roller10@columbus.rr.com RON SIMPSON

I agree the show roller is long overdue to be recognized as an offical breed by the NPA.I think the existance of the Pensom Roller Club in the past has impeded the process of the show roller being recognized as a true show bird and a separate breed.I view our modern day show roller and the performing roller the same as the flying flight and the Domestic Show Flight.

Show Guy,You hit the nail right on the head. This is long over due and I am sorry I did not make this a priority when I was first elected president of the URCA three years ago. The club had several other issues that got resolved and this project got put on the back burner.I was the Mid-West director for a number of years and remember talking about this in several meetings with past presidents and directors. Now that this is about to come to a head, hopefully again we can move on and become brothers once again with our fellow Birmingham Roller breeders and flyers. Till next time, RON

Mother Lode,I have sent Tony a picture of the new Persian Roller that is being imported From Germany. Hopefully he will be able to post it somewhere so all the Roller people will be able to see what it looks like. It looks to me more like a Oriental Roller than a Show Roller,Flying Roller, Parlor Roller. RON

Show Guy, I would like to thank you, Joe LaFauci, and the WESTERN ROLLER CLUB for the beautiful plaque that was presented to me.I was overwhelmed. In an E-Mail today from Bill Murkley, I learned he won the baldhead "Grand Slam" again this year. he also won this in 1998.These three Baldhead shows are the National Young Bird Show,State Show, and the All Age National.I also told him That the National Show Roller Association is going to have a Breeder Cup Classic for Baldheads next year. This will hopefully become a dual show each year.More info will be written later on the Breeder Cup Classis to be held in Kentucky. If anyone else has any roller news, send it in so we all can share it.

Bob Jan says she owes you a big hug for that nice compliment. Ken and I checked out the show hall for the BSRC show. Looks real good.Read my post under show roller dates.Bought a nice book from Bob McGuan on PIGEON GENETICS. Real nice! Much easier to read and understand than Axel Sells book on genetics. If you get a chance you really should visit his web site at www.slobberknockerlofts.com Bob has a really great site.He is a color breeder and has rollers. He and I have a link to each others web sites. Thanks for the nice compliment on the triple crown.I expect you to do the same thing in the Baldheads. You certainly have the birds capable of doing it.
