here's a good one lets talk percentages,I'll start,I breed about a 100 birds give or take,I loose maybe 15 or so to hawks and culling the weak out of the kit box,I roll maybe 3 or 4 down and cull a few more that are unstable and won't kit,in a season I'll breed maybe 2 or 3 exceptional birds, and I'll breed another 6 pretty good ones and maybe 8 or 12 just ok birds, the rest are either stiffs , marginal or culled due to Qaulity, this is just off of my head and looking at the numbers I would say that would be in a very succesful season that I would see those numbers, for the new guys let me say this, just because it rolls doesnt mean it's good,I might add that I set the bar high,as it should be. Good question freddie, there are birds that will never leave the property alive here, thats Weak birds, cronic bumpers, nonkitters which most the time is caused by instability and rolldowns,as far as stiffs and marginal(that includes shorter depth) birds generaly they are "given" to some new guy so that they are able to fly a kit,a few of these birds just arent in yet and normally a couple of decent birds will pop up for these guys,we fly club comps from Feb-June (first fly is today) and Sept-Nov plus World Cup and the NBRC Fallflys and these leftovers give these guys a chance to get thier feet wet,a few of the maginal birds may be decent spinners but just come out of the roll funky a little to often, and some may be hate hatch that are set back due to the inconsistant flying that they get in the Winter, and the room is needed, what I'm after is the cream of the breeding season, and there just isnt a lot of it !!!!! percenatages are the name of the game, if you are trying to compete with the best in the world,, The higher the percentage of good rollers raised every year, the better your chances of doing well in world class competition. I want to call for roll, meaning if I breed 100 birds, I expect to get 100 rollers. From these, you cull for not rolling frequent enough, deep enough, fast enough, to sloppy or many other things,, but you are culling from roll, not from straight flying. this is ones first goal in upping the percentages.. the number of good ones you end up with from year to year will vary.. I look for from 3 to 10 birds a year that are stock quality and from 30 to 40 that can be flown in a competition kit, and get quaality and depth marks.. That leaves me with 3 to 10 % stockable margin. A 30 to 40% good usauble rollers, and 60 to 70% cull ratio... These are not numbers set in stone. They fluctuate year to year, depending the sucess of my breeding season. These are number we work towards in my opinion, if we want to rock in the roller world...

First question, you are who I think you are right LOL,your right the percentages are the name of the game,as long as they are right !!! how many true world class A team birds do you breed a year ? if you are who I think you are then we both know the type of bird that we are talking about and I know that were both on the same page concerning the type of bird that I'm asking about
