Hello:

This is what you do....Study the eye's of allyour birds that fly. The one's that don't kit, rolldowns, outright culls. Not the age and your thoughts on the eyes. Then look at you best stock birds and compare there eyes. After you have done this your best birds will have the same look. Eyesign is just one tool in judging Rollers. Type, muscle strenght, overall balance of the bird are a few others. Alsoone more thing ,the eye changes as the bird grows up, after 3yrs. the eye is stable and does not deteareate (sP)until it is up in years or is sick... just my thoughts.....Glenn

Hello,
I have heard many views through the years on eye sign and after all the debates and discussions I have come to this conclussion.
There are many different colors and types of eyes in our roller world.
I have seen myself and looked at 3 world cup teams and they all have had different colors and types.
I have seen many other good style, speed and depth of rollers also.
Looking at them all I have noticed they all showed that clear sharp healthy look in the eye.
In the kit box they tend to give you that "You looking at me" look.
If anything the eye shows a sign of good health .
I have noticed that in rolldowns 90% of them have had an off centered pupil.
This is my take on the subject.
P. S.
Tony I have to dissagree with you on the part where you say you can pick a gooden or a champ out of the nest.
If that were the case you or other rollermen would be winning most of the big flys.
I might have won the World Cup by now LOL.
Later
Steve S.

How to use eyesign=Pick bird up-Look in eye for 5 seconds-Put bird back in kitbox-Let kit out-Study that bird -If it spins good keep it.If it doesn't, kill it.The end.

Eye sign is Bull. You might not even have to look at the eyes for 5 seconds. You got to llok at the roll. Good roll = good bird no matter what you see in the eyes. Good roll cancels out bad eyes (whatever that may be). Bad rolling canceles out good eyes (what ever that may be)

Steve's post was very good, the closer that you pay attention to your birds the more little subtle differances that you'll see,can you pick a good one from the eye,I certainly can't,but the good ones seem to have the same kind of eye, same with the breeders,an the same as the too hot, theres more than a coincedence there,it's just one of many tools,

Hey Viper,

What if it has only one eye, but is a great spinner......do ya keep the bird? If you say no, then we got a real eye sign.

eye sign can determine if the bird is a roller or a good roller however do not rely on this. i keep and breed birmingham rollers pearl eyes and orange eyes. my pearl eyes spin more than my oranges however they do not fly as long as the oranges....
