I took about 40 pix of them while they were flying around my house. You just gotta stage the pic at the right angle if you can. The single bird pics are all just past squeakers. The birds in the break are part of this years hatch. Oldest was hatched March 30th I think.

When I snapped the single bird pics they were sitting on the gate landing board about 5 feet in the air. I just got my camera ready and walked up slowly to them. They just went a few feet in the air right over my head. Easy shooting.

The flyers were a different story. I took about 20 pics of the empty sky, and a bunch with the kit cut off in the middle. The wind was up so they were staying low. They like to swoop low over the field and climb behind a big elm. When they clear it sometimes they break. They have another place they like to break but it was in the sun. It was a challenge to keep them in the veiwfinder that I couldnt see for spit. Eventually I found the "sweet spot" just holding the camera out and using the stereo vison God blessed me with.

Most point and click digi cams have close up and landscape settings. These settings refer to the focus of the lens. Landscape reaches way out there 300-400 yards. Use this setting for shooting the kit in the air. Use the closeup setting for shooting the ones close in overhead. Also use almost the largest pic you can get. I use the one that gets me 18 pics on my 5 meg camera. I dont have a very large card, its the stock one.
If you use a higher resolution it gives you more to work with before the image starts to pixelate.
