In your opinion, what is the best breed for me to get and fly without getting all of my birds eaten. Which breed is not going to get nailed out of the sky every fly and can at least get away from the Coopers and Goss hawks a majority of the time?

Thank you,
Andrew

I guess it'll be RACERS (HomeRs). They are tremendously fast birds. Not a lot of hawk can get to them, and plus when you fly them, they are just going to be flying home or somewhere else. They are some unique birds to raise, yet they eat too much. They eat 2X more than rollers.

You'll still lose homers if you take them away from the loft to fly them and train them to any distances. They do ok around the loft as the BOP residents soon find they are hard to catch, but when they are flying distances you can lose the whole works in one shot. They pass through a different BOPs territory and they get snagged and chased all over the place and get lost.
You've already asked this question Andrew and some guys said Doneks are good or Flying Orientals or Escampadissas.Do you want us to make your mind up for you or what????My racers eat 3 1/4 cups for 20 birds, rollers 2 cups 20 birds.

Andrew, maybe something like parlor rollers! You stll got the challenge of improveing performance, but they don't fly and Bops won't be an issue as long as you stay with them!

You can show them and compete! I only go to one show a year, but we go out front of the building and compete to kill time and have fun!

Andrew,
check out the Flying Oriental Roller Society.
I am on the waiting list to get some FOR's. You need to be careful that you Flying Oriental Rollers not show birds.
There are only a couple of strains in the country that are actually flying birds.
