Well I imagine the first thing if you want to foster a egg to another pair is have a pair laying on eggs that you don't want their eggs! So you just swap the eggs you don't want for the ones you do want. I've heard of hens pairing up and laying and even males (of course they wouldn't have eggs to swap)but I don't know about that. I haven't been in the hobby that long. If you did have a pair of hens paired up seems to me that they would be great to use since you know there eggs are no good, unless your breeding in an open loft where they might of been bred by one of the cocks.
Now I don't know about fostering a baby. I would think you have a chance of the parents not accepting the baby but I'm not sure there.

Put all your breeders(fosters and foundation birds)together at the same time.Wait till each pair has laid the first 2 eggs then toss them all at once as likely you'll have dud eggs in that first bunch,,then they will all be on the same page and should all lay eggs again within 10 days. When they have the next set of eggs, then you switch them. The main thing is to have them laying within a few days of each other at most.If you put fresh eggs under a pair that has already been setting on a set of eggs for too many days, they will get off the the fresher eggs before they hatch as they will only set on the eggs about 22-23 days and if the eggs haven't hatched by then they get off thinking the eggs are no good.Hope this helps.

It helps if you wait 6 days after being laid. Checking for fertility before fostering them out. If only one egg is fertile, I usually toss it. My theory is that it only will take another 7-10 days for the pair to lay again - the end result would equal two fuzz balls instead of one.

Find great parenting birds. Lay them down a two days after your do your main breeders. Switch out the eggs from your breeders to the fosters - key is the match the dates. If they your main pair laid 3-20... you would be looking for some thing in the 3-19 thru 3-23 range.

Get fosters that lay quick and fast. Great parents is a must. A colorful bird is nice for the eyes but isn't a must.

Good luck!

Just fostered out my first set of eggs yesterday.
