I heard that someone has a special mask for when your cleaning your lofts. Where do I get one or can I just use one of these cheap paper painter masks?
I just spent a few hours out there really scraping and shoveling stuff up. The sun was shining in one East window and man was the dust bad. Poop dust I guess maybe some feather dust too. I don't imagine that is too good for you lungs. I quit smoking about 12 years ago now I'd hate to died of poop lung.
Any good advice?

Thanks Dexter,
They look really nice should last a life time. Hey while I was there I seen tobacco stems. What in the world do you use them for?

Bert....we use tabocco stems for the nestbowls. I just put a pile of them in the corner of the breeding loft and nature takes it course. For the individual pens I just break them in half and lay them in the nestbowl. The stems help keep paricites out of the nests.

Oh thanks Paul,
I thought that might be what it was for. I never seen a tobacco stem before and I would of thought they were quite large. Guess not.
I have been using long pine needles in my nest and they seem to love them.

hi guys
I`ve been using the sunday paper for years now. Every time I clean the nest bows and Individual pens I lay newspaper in the bottom. Just roll it up and throw it away when you clean. Almost no scraping. In the kitboxs, I just use the water hose to spray them out right after I release a kit.Occasionally have to scrape a little after the hose but very little and It is wet so theres no dust.
Just my opinion. This works for me. Scraping sux.
