For how many generations can you inbreed Mother-Son , Father-Daughter , Brither-Sister and so on...?

Sandy,
He is a well known flyer out on the west side here.Cali I think.Seems like with pigeons we can inbreed forever,mother to son,father/daughter and on and on.Even bro/sis.

Kenny Billings is in IDaho.
You can inbreed as much or as little as you like. It all depends on the the stock.

Some birds may be great rollers in the air but have hidden, recessive, defects that might not pop out until they get inbred and the recessives match up again. Or, they might not be good parents, or they might have poor feather quality that gets worse when inbred, or they might get too small, or too big, or be sickly, or get three toes.
There are many qualities, besides being great in the air, which go into selecting bird that a family can be started from and percentages improved through inbreeding.
This is the reason you want to go to hard core flyers for stock.
If you are happy breeding lots and lots of birds to select 20 to put a good kit together, many good in the air birds will work. If you want to breed a minimum number of birds to end up with a top notch kit, a tight family is the way to go.
That is also why the so called colored birds can do just fine in competitions. A guy can breed 200 birds a year in fancy colors and probably find 20 good ones for a kit.
To do what guys like Heine Bijker do and breed around 60 birds a year and win the WC year in and year out, takes a good , tight family, with the recessive detrimantal genes removed though selection and some form of inbreeding or linebreeding.
It all depends on what you want to do with yor time and what you enjoy doing.

If you start from a weak gene no you cannot do it alot...if its stock and built strong it can go on for awhile into you hit a walll so youll know when you hit the wall to stop!! Select also along the way ....good luck
