Do you give your culls away to other flyers?

Ol' Nickster, They go to a buddy for dog training, or my sons friend who eats them..Never have given any away to another roller breeder.
BUT, a cull might produce some young now and again, if its in the blood!
Fosters are another great way to use culls.

I have a couple of friends that just want to have pigeons, they pretty much just give them open loft and usually end up as dinner for some stray cat or hawk thats around, they don't live close to me and don't care if they flip, roll or anything as long as they will fly. that way I get rid of them and not to someone that wants a good roller

I never let a cull get into anyones hands this in my opinion will not help anyone. They are not worth feeding and should be disposed of, I was taught a long time ago when you give someone a bird it should almost hurt deep in your gut. This pain should subside when you think about how you helped out a fellow hobbiest with solid bird that you are proud to have your name behind.

Kopetsa I understand but culls produce culls and it is my opinion that they sshould not be bred from. Now if you asked me do I no people who has bred from a cull yes I do, I no people who have bred from none kitters and they did get many birds from them that kitted but their kits did not kit tight. What ever you put into your family is what you will get from it and I personally would rather give someone something that will help them rather than hurt them. On this subject we disagree but I respect and understand your opinion.
P.S keep the topics coming Great Job.

Yes I would give a 9 or 13 year old a good bird they are the future of the hobby. I also would give them my time, and knowledge so that they would respect and understand the value of the bird that they have just received.
These are the things that I could not get from anyone when I was that age. Remeber at early teen years we are hungry for knowledge. ( A CULL IS A CULL IS A CULL )

Spinzone I agree with you completely, I just dont think it is right to put them down! I'd rather release them like in a city or something where there are wild pigeons or I would give them to people for fosters! Or they could even go to people who like to show them!

Koetsa I understand and there is nothing wrong with that as long as you get rid of and do not breed from your culls. You are a wise young man, you and others like you are the future of the hobby/sport so keep representing it well.

The problem with releasing birds in the wild is that rollers that were raised in captivity dont do well in the wild and usually perrish anyway. Not always but usually. Joe ---------- J.M.Urbon Lofts A Proven Family of Spinners http://www.freewebs.com/jmurbonlofts/

To someone that wants rollers I would give a decent bird but culls can go to folks who just want to have birds. ---------- Kel. Rum-30 Lofts

Some culls are champions in other lofts it depends what each of us like. I took 3 of my culls to my friend house yesterday which they are culls for me because they spin over 60 feet or less than 15 feet. I don't give him tumblers just good fast rollers.

Kopetsa I am sorry, when I said put down I was talking about the number of pairs that I was breeding from.
Quickspin your statement is true a cull for me would be a non kitter of roll down. I should have been more clear thank you.

You know. When I was a kid, I didn't know anything and I got RIP OFF many time, and I still didn't get it. Fanciers back in my childhood days sold me cull rollers for the price of $40 each. And This one guy lied that his birds were roller, so me and my friend decided to buy it from him, and he sold it to us for $20 each. It was ridiculous. I'm not that kind of person, but I sure hope that doesn't happen to anyone. I give my culls to one of my friend that just want to keep pigeon for fun.

Hey washington I to have been taken for a ride as a young lad and this is why I choose to help out kids they show an intrest in the hobby. Like most of us we had birds when we were in our teens then comes girls and our intrest change but some how we find our feathered friends.
Now a days if you rip off a young teen you find yourself ripped off depending on what area you stay in.

You're exactly right SpinZone. It's true that when girls come between our teen-hood, the hobby kinda goes away for-a-while. Then it comes back. One of my freind who kept rollers with me back then never gave up the hobby even though he got himself a girlfriend. He got me into the hobby again, that's why I'm back in the hobby. Trust me, I hated back then when I was cheated with CULL birds or I shall say CRAP Birds.
I try to get an many of my friends to get into the hobby because, so that we can compete with each other on the daily basic. My best friend live in Northern California got birds from Joe E, and sometime we would give each other birds (TRADE). It's fun when we compete to see who got the best birds.
I don't ever want to rip starters off at all. My culls are FREE to my younger friends who want to keep them and have fun with them.

diamondrollers. You're right, I was helped that way, and I shall help other people that way too. One guy told me that because he helped me out with AWESOME birds, he also want me to help others (starter) the same way he did. He was this best fancier ever.

You no their going to give you a call when the young they produce from start to show promise, no matter how many guy's/gal's I help with a good start it's still makes me feel good inside.

A young person first time starting rollers,I will give him nothing only culls, with advice to serve your apprenticeship with these.feeding, ailments, breeding, and so many other things thats required, that older guys like ourselves do automatically. These done, and still interested, at a later date, they go with youngsters, etc, if a young person came to you re buying a car, your not going to advise or sell him a rocket, let them learn how to drive first.
