I had a cock breed with his daughter and I forgot to take the eggs. Here we are at about 17-18 days old and I am not sure what to do with the eggs. If I let them hatch will the babies be normal or deformed? Will they be able to fly good?

Thanks,

Andrew

Go to the main page above the page #s and click on the "reading room" heading! There is a good article about 'inbreeding"! There are many good articles about many different subjects there! If you haven't read thru them, I suggest you do! There is some mighty good stuff there!

I have a mother/son and a father/daughter mating right now and I can't wait to see the results! I would definatly let them hatch and see! JMO

That is an old practice, many of us bird guys have been breeding that way for many many years. The birds are not like humans...

I've read that the pigeons have like twice the chromozones than humans and other animals! That is how this method of breeding works! Am I right? Can anyone elaberate on this for us?

Val.... humans have 64 chromosomes and a pigeon no less then 120, probably twice what humans have and that is why you can inbreed certain birds in order to build a solid family of performing roller pigeons. Matching body type to body type (along with specific feather patterns) is one way of linking similar bio-genetic traits & ro-genes together.
